First trimester exhaustion

I’m currently 9 weeks pregnant and I’ve never felt exhaustion like it. I’m obviously not doing much as we’re stuck in at the moment so it’s not as if I’m over exerting myself. All I want to do is spend all day in bed. Last night I slept 8.30pm-7am. I then napped 11.30am-1pm and then again for an hour at 2pm. I finally dragged myself into a shower at 3ish and just feel awful. I’ve been super sick too. When will this end 😱😱😱

Oh god, honestly the one thing no one tells you about pregnancy is the absolute exhaustion of the first trimester. You hear all about nausea etc etc but for me the exhaustion was the worst.

If you’re isolating anyway this is actually a great time to be off work as you should just nap whenever you can. In my first trimester I was still working, couldn’t tell anyone and could have happily gone back to bed at 9am.

On the dot of 12 weeks it lifted and I felt fine again. It doesn’t last I promise. You don’t have long to go at all so best of luck and stick with it Flowers

Sleep if your body tells you to.it is hideous I know. It won't last much longer, the first trimester is all about changing your whole body ready for your baby.

Try to drink more water, as if you are sleeping more you are drinking less and drinking can make you feel more alert.

Hope you feel better soon!

It's because right now your body is creating things out of nothing. The rest of the pregnancy is just growing what it has created. Right now it is building things into existence!! That is tiring work. Its great you're able to sleep when you want make the most of it!

This was me until about 14 weeks! Now I am usually fine with 10pm-8am then an hour's nap around 3pm. For the first trimester I could have slept the clock around and sometimes did!

My morning sickness started 7 weeks on the dot, it was (and still is) horrible! As soon as I hit 9 weeks, I would have a full nights sleep and then have a 3-5 hour nap in the day Blush I was totally exhausted. DP was actually starting to think I was seriously ill! But my body needed the rest and sleeping meant that I wasn’t being sick. I spoke to my MW who explained that your body is working way harder than normal so it’s totally expected to be exhausted.
Im now 12+2 weeks and today was the first nap I’ve needed in 5 days. It does get easier! Flowers

6 weeks here and knackered! Any advice to help it? I'm WFH due to CV but have a toddler to entertain at home too so just feel like I'm not getting a break...

BuffaloCauliflower · 29/03/2020 10:49

6+4 here and exhausted most of the time. One of the few perks of this lockdown and WFH is I can nap in the day, I don’t know what I’d be doing if I was at work all day

Workingmama1 · 29/03/2020 17:12

I just had a two hour nap! Not convinced it's made me feel any better though...

Totally with you here! I swear I wasn't this exhausted and sick the first time round, all I can say is thank god I can work from home because I can barely get out of bed!! Fingers crossed it subsides soon for all of us! Everyone just keeps telling me it's a good sign, but I just want to scream when they say that 😂
