some women still have periods for a couple of months... it might very well be that's just what it is.
I had some bleeding around same time and that's what it was.
Don't freak out but do call your Dr or midwife.

I'm sure is it fine but speak to your GP or midwife just to put your mind at rest. My SIL had something that sounded like this at 9 weeks and her midwife said it was normal and nothing to worry about.

Twiglett · 11/09/2007 13:58

yes I did with DD (who has her feet up on me atm) .. it is old blood .. it can happen around this stage as further implantation occurs .. don't worry about it

bananabump · 11/09/2007 13:59

If you're worried call them, that's what they're there for. I had a small bleed a month or so into pregnancy, everything was fine but I didn't realise I was pregnant at the time. If I had known I would have called the doctor. I'm sure everything will be ok though. x

meemar · 11/09/2007 14:00

I had this at 14 weeks. The mw said that old blood could be from a bit of cervical erosion and was nothing to worry about.

Hope everything is fine for you x

I had 3 or 4 episodes of bleeding in my first pregnancy each lasting a few days. It was sometimes brown/old blood and sometimes red. My gp sent me to early pregnancy unit for a scan. I never found out what caused it and went to term +5 and had an 8lb 6oz baby. I think it happened between about 6 and 14 weeks. Try not to worry, bleeding is not too uncommon. If you phone gp for energency appointment they should be able to refer you for a scan asap.

NoMoreHighHeels · 11/09/2007 14:03

I think this is quite a common thing (has just happened to me at 11 weeks) - it is a worry. I agree with slim22 and get a second opinion. Hopefully you'll be offered a scan to put you mind at rest.

Really hope everything works out for you.

Mumpbump · 11/09/2007 14:05

I haven't had it, but have heard of women who have implantation bleeds which are dark brown. Old blood is usually nothing to worry about, I believe.

kekouan · 11/09/2007 14:08

Had exactly the same thing at 7-8 weeks pg. Was only a small amount and did really worry me initially, but didn't have any more bleeding. Midwife said it was completely normal.

If you're worried, check with the doc, but it's most likely an implantation bleed.

sod them, that's their job!
Call as many times as you want.
we all felt like that for our first. Most of us are a bit worried during the first term and the midwife's job is to reassure you and make sure you and your baby are in good health.
try to relax and take care

Guitargirl · 12/09/2007 06:37

I had this at around 7-8 weeks too, I was worried and I had a scan, everything was fine . Don't think you're a pain about asking for help from your midwife, we all worry especially when everything is so new! I went to my GP in tears when I was about 7 weeks pregnant because I had what I thought was a rash and I terrifed myself by reading on the Internet what it could be, turned out to be insect bites...

RLR · 12/09/2007 09:39

guitargirl, lol insect bites. that would be me that, when u look up things on the net it does always seem worst than what it is doesnt it.
