No Boys Names! Starting to Panic...

Hi everyone,

Another name thread I'm afraid! I am 35 weeks pregnant and although I have a few girls names in mind, I am really struggling with boys names. I want something fairly unusual (not in the top 50ish) but not too 'out there'...

My initial choice was Seth - but DP isn't keen (says is sounds like a sssnake sound?).

Other possibilities are:

Montgomery (Monty)
Ivo (too bourgeois?)
Abraham (Abe, Abie)
Sonny
Ned
Clement (Clem)?
Seamus

Top choices for girls are:

Violet (Lettie)
Meredith (Edie)

I am worried at the lack of Wow factor for the boys. Is this necessary, or do you just end up completely loving the name any way?

Please help. Suggestions welcome; I am looking for suggestions rather than opinions, as I know that these names won't be to everyone's taste (puts fingers in ears and sings loudly).

Thanks in advance,

BVx

Has anyone suggested Louis?

Its my fave name of all time (only our surname is Lewis so it was an absolute no no).

seamus, from your list.

I love Theo and Jasper BUT BUT BUT they all seem to be becoming very popular around where I live (Theo in particular seems to be the new 'Josh')... there's a really funny article in a book called Freakonomics that looks at the way names get more and more popular, and it put me off ever giving my children anything other than really really classical names..

If you like Seamus, How about Fergus or Finlay or Finbar..?

I've got a list of names of all the children at the pre-prep my DS has just started at, and my favourites from there include
Max (Maximilian),
Oliver,
James
Harry (Henry)

My DH and I did the 'announcement in the doctor's surgery test' for names last night and instantly discounted about half of our list!! Try it and see how you get on! Loved the references to 'Ned' - didnt realise thats what it stood for hehe!
Our shortlist for boys is:-

Frazer
Corey
Austin
Ellis
Spencer

Although I love Laurie too!!!
