Food getting stuck in chest

For the last week or so, when I eat it feels like my food is getting lodged in my chest, it hurts and causes hiccups. I have also been having some heartburn but not a lot. I'm almost 24 weeks pregnant.

Anyone else have this?

Hi @erised, have you had very severe heartburn during your pregnancy?

I’d advise you to call your GP - difficulty swallowing can be worrying, although it is most likely to be irritation from acid reflux or possibly a hiatus hernia

I have had some bad heartburn yes.

I don't think there's any point in calling my GP considering what's going on right now.

It’s probably irritation from acid reflux then - take regular gaviscon and omeprazole

I know it feels like you shouldn’t be contacting your GP at the moment, but other illnesses still happen when COVID is about! I’m a doctor myself and would advise a chat with your GP with these symptoms 👍

Contact your GP. Medical care for other reasons hasn’t stopped because of CV. My GP is now running phone appointments & prescribing over the phone.

I had this, it’s all heartburn & squashed digestive system related. Omeprazole can be really helpful!
