Twins, one with no heartbeat

Hello I’m new to this but wonder if anyone has any experience of this. I’ve been through IVF, was told I was expecting twins. I was measuring at 6weeks 1 day for one and 6 weeks for the other on my 7 week scan. Both heartbeats could be seen. The next week only one heartbeat could be seen and the other was measuring exactly a week on. I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this with it measuring a week less and losing a twin and it all went okay? Many thanks

I'm so sorry for your loss Flowers
I don't have any advice but didn't want to read and run.

When I had my twelve week scan it could be seen that it had been a twin pregnancy but one baby had died. Other baby looked well on the scan and is now a healthy teenager (currently clattering around in the kitchen chatting to her Dad) and the rest of the pregnancy and birth were very easy. The loss of the second twin has stayed in my mind though, and I do sometimes wonder when I see twins what that would have been like for our family. I am sorry for your loss OP.

Flowers The same thing happened with us after fertility treatment. Two of different sizes at 7 weeks and then just the one at 10 weeks. Thankfully the nurse prepared us for one not to make it so we didn’t have too much of a shock. Apparently it is quite common. I found it very hard to grasp that the lost one would be ‘absorbed’.

All went perfectly for the rest of my pregnancy and I now have a very healthy, happy 3 year old!

sending hugs your way op. Remember that you couldn't have prevented this and you did nothing wrong Flowers

Oh I a so sorry you are going through this.

My friend lost one of her twins. It showed up at the 20 week scan. She took the other baby to term and she was fine and healthy.
Sadly, she did have to deliver the dead twin, which was really hard for them.

Thank you everyone, I just worry as I’m measuring 6 days behind what I’m meant to be too. I’ve had a missed miscarriage and chemical before this so going a bit mad about it all!

I was a twin and my sibling was miscarried at 12 weeks - my mum found out due to a large bleed and subsequent scan, but I was fine and the rest of the pregnancy was uneventful.

Hello,

So sorry you are going through this. I'm currently 16 weeks pregnant and babies were measuring a week apart at 7 and 9 weeks. Unfortunately one didn't make it which is so sad, but the other seems to be doing very well and I am now a low-risk midwife led pregnancy.

Wishing you all the best at this difficult time.
