Hello!

Expecting DC2 beginning of July (currently 25+4).

Haven't done anything thought to much about it yet but wondered about a few things...

  1. Prep - What are essentials for DC2? All I can think is nappies, and new mattress for bedside crib (intending to BF again and have most other stuff from DC1). Anything to help DC1 with new arrival? Have ordered a few books and a doll
  1. Labour - What to remember second time round? In worst case scenario should DH not be able to come with me to hospital I think I'm psychologically prepared to do it on my own but we should hopefully be on the flatish bit of the outbreak curve by then🤞
  1. Post-birth - hoping we are not in lock down then but if we are any tips on 2 year old toddler and newborn? DH will be off for a month and then possible wfh.

Thanks!

I’ve just had my second; I’d recommend a sling as it’s helped me to have my hands free to do things for my toddler and for walks although we’ve not gone further than the garden.
I would say that when the baby is born try to keep your toddlers routine as far as possible; I’ve made sure I always do bedtime for my toddler and made that our time.

Have you organised childcare for DC1 when in labour. No idea what the situation will look like then but would they be willing to self isolate 14 days before your due date? It's a tricky one if they are a key worker then they could be bringing virus into house with newborn. Pregnancy is hard enough without the unknown.

We left a new toy for DC1 with grandparents to play with while I was having DC2. Kept him entertained as longest I had been away from him, don't think he noticedGrin
