Anyone been diagnosed with pregnancy induced hypertension?

I'm 36 weeks pregnant and I have gestational diabetes, which is currently diet controlled and my blood sugars look good. I'm also Group B Strep positive.

For the past week my urine has had protein in it and my blood pressure has been rising. Today it was 150/90 which for me is a lot higher than what iti normally is. I'm booked in for a C-Section at 39+1 due to having inflammatory bowel disease and my colorectal surgeon wanting to reserve my pelvic floor as I have had major bowel surgery.

I've been told today that I have pregnancy induced hypertension and a Strep B urine infection, so I've been put on blood pressure tablets and antibiotics and I'm going to be monitored to see if it turns into pre-eclampsia as I have had some other symptoms such as headaches and swelling.

I can't see this turning out well and I'm starting to get worried that my baby is going to be here too early. I can't have steroid injections due to the diabetes and I'm worried about his little lungs and going into the neonatal care unit where there is only one visitor allowed (me) - though they've said it could end up being no visitors at all. :'(

Has anyone else been in this position and lasted through to their due date? If I can just make it to 38 weeks I will be happy!

I was diagnosed with pregnancy induced hypertension at 32 weeks and closely monitored ever since. I’m now over 40 weeks and baby is still in there!

Wishing you all the best for the rest of your pregnancy.

I was at 16 weeks! Been on medication for it since.

I'm now 37+3 and starting to get quite a lot of swelling and headaches, but don't know if that's just general pregnancy. I have my weekly BP check today and I will mention this, but generally they seem quite happy.

I've had my medication monitored throughout and it has really helped to maintain my BP. I also have high fluid pressure on my brain, which hasn't been adversely affected by the medication.

My consultant said she is happy with everything, only I'm not allowed to go overdue.

Good luck!!

Hi OP! DD was born 36+4 here after I was induced just over 48 hours after being diagnosed with pre-eclampsia - my blood pressure was through the roof with swelling, headaches and protein in my urine. She was tiny - 4lb 10oz but she was perfect with absolutely no problems and didn’t have to go to NCU. If it was based on her we’d have been discharged the same day just sadly I was poorly. I hope this offers some reassurance!
