I'm 35 weeks today, going for a VBAC, after an emergency section with my first.

Under consultant advice, they had said they could start to get things moving with sweeps from 38 weeks and induction at 40 weeks.

This was a few days before lock down and now due to current circumstances I'm not sure whether to defer the early sweeps, and keep baby in there long as possible now in hopes things start to settle?!

Any advice or anyone in a similar position?

Personally I would stick with whatever the consultant’s advice is. If they’re still recommending starting sweeps at 38 weeks then I would do it. They wouldn't have recommended it for no reason and delaying it could potentially cause more problems, depending on the reason for early sweeps/due date induction (I’m currently 33 weeks, 41yo with IVF baby, so will be in the same boat as you soon enough!)
From what I’ve been told by my consultant, pregnancy care/midwifes etc are far more protected than any other dept at a hospital so there’s no reason right now to be considering delaying the birth just because of Covid but if you’re really concerned, speak to your consultant or midwife to see what the latest advice is.
Good luck with whatever you decide x

I'm 37 weeks and keen to get baby out sooner rather than later. Looking at Italy and Spain, I doubt things will get better in the next couple of months. Have a chat with your midwife? I'd follow what they recommend, as it will be best for your baby.

Thanks both. I have a midwife appointment a few days before the sweep so will see what their advice is.

No particular medical reason for early sweeps, was offered it as they know I was keen for a VBAC and they said baby will be a healthy weight to start doing so from 38 weeks after a growth scan.

Hope you are doing well amongst all the chaos!
