I was due on the 22nd, had a sweep on Friday, cervix was prosterior but somewhat soft, had cramps all day but have felt fine ever since! Not booked in for another one until Friday which (in this current situation) feels like a lifetime away. I'm so scared about the birth with all of this going on. My hospital have changed their policies for birthing partners in line with the current virus situation (which I totally understand) but if I'm admitted onto the postnatal ward after my birth, he has to go home.. I'm terrified of being on my own with a newborn as this is my first, I feel like I'll be completely out of my depth. I'm so fed up right now 😩

Skeeter2020 · 24/03/2020 23:16

I was 10 days overdue.

Really don't envy you having a baby will all of this going on Sad

HighOnStilts · 24/03/2020 23:24

@Skeeter2020 I'll be honest, I'm petrified!
I really want to avoid induction or c-section too.. It's such a shitty time.

I was never over due so can't comment. But regarding being alone I am a single parent and was by the point of delivery I was alone on the ward and sort of muddled through - he's 15 now so definitely survived it. I know it's not what you were planning but if you end up in that position use the time to get to know your baby, ask the staff anything while you've got the chance and try to relax. Best of luck.

Potkettlexx · 24/03/2020 23:35

I was 9 days over with first and 2 weeks over with second had to be induced.

That’s quite the norm here where all new mums and babies stay on postnatal wats and dads go home.

Not saying it’s ideal as it would be better if they were there but hopefully you’ll be out the following morning so it won’t be too long

Potkettlexx · 24/03/2020 23:37

Induction was ok OP. I actually preferred if you my first labour that wasn’t induced. Try to worry. You’ll soon have your beautiful baby in your arms good luck

agteacht · 24/03/2020 23:42

I was 8 days overdue and ended in EMCS after complications during labour.

But just to reassure, c-section recovery really wasn't that bad (and I've experienced full labour so can compare!)

Good luck, you're nearly there Daffodil

FanSpamTastic · 24/03/2020 23:46

DC3 - Due on 17th - induced on 29th - 12 days late.

I had pessary gel induction at about 8 am, I started contracting early afternoon and had him at about 4:30 pm.

Umberellaellaella · 24/03/2020 23:46

15 days over.

dontdillydallytoolong · 24/03/2020 23:49

17 days over

mineofuselessinformation · 24/03/2020 23:56

First dc, 13 days over. Second, 8 days over.
They adjusted my due dates back by about a week in both cases.
Dcs were born at 8lb 13 oz and 9lb.
They will look after you, especially if you can't have a birth partner there with you. Try not to worry. Thanks

HighOnStilts · 25/03/2020 00:04

Thank you everyone! I know everyone is different but I do find it reassuring to hear other ladies experiences! I'm just desperate for her to be in my arms now. I know all the worries of the world will wash away when she finally decides to make an appearance.
I hope everyone else is holding up okay during this horrible time!

14 days overdue!!!

feefee322 · 25/03/2020 00:10

Don't get the syntocin drip...

If you do, get an epidural. I didn't have one and it was HELL

BrokenMumTeenDD · 25/03/2020 11:47

3 weeks, but I was certain they had got my due date wrong as DD would have been conceived in hospital otherwise. She was born very tall like her dad, so maybe that played a part in them getting it so wrong

happymummy12345 · 25/03/2020 11:47

I was due on Sunday 30th august 2015. I was booked in for a sweep on the Wednesday, I started having mild contractions on the Tuesday so decided to leave the sweep and see if things progressed naturally. They didn't so I had a sweep at 3pm on the Friday. I went to the hospital at 9pm, was in the birth centre by 10.30. The head wasn't fully engaged so that's why things wouldn't progress. The midwife broke my waters artificially at 2am, and I gave birth at 6.58am on Saturday 5th September, after 4 days of contractions.

Any sign of baby?
