So eight years ago I had a daughter, at 16 weeks I developed the dreaded, depressing, insanity causing itch. It started on my thighs and then developed everywhere on my body except my face and head. It took them up to week 23 to diagnose it, which by that point I was considering termination it was so bad.

After a further 2-3 weeks, numerous visits to specialists and a lovely photography session for a medical journal (as it was unheard of to see it so early) they finally found steriod ointment and antihistamines to work.

I was assured that this never happens in subsequent pregnancies unless its multiples. Now that I am 11 weeks preganant...the itch is back, im absolutely devastated.

Has anyone had this during a second pregnancy and has anyone discovered any magic cures in the last 8 years??

PS. I know from personal experience it does not have a 6 week life cycle, just for anyone thinking to note that....

I had it my last pregnancy and it was awful all over my stomach and I scratched till I bled :( I was prescribed a steroid cream but it ruined my stomach as I put too much on and ended up with quite thin skin so it’s still saggy now and that was nearly 12 years ago!

I started getting the itch around 11 weeks this time, I was so depressed, I still get it now and again but very rarely, I literally don’t bath with anything and if I do it’s just oat water (porridge oats) soaked and then the water put in bath and I’ve changed up my whole skincare to as natural as possible and whether it’s coincidence the itch has mostly gone, also to add apparently this itch is common at the beginning so don’t panic yet, thing to do with the extra blood flow xxx
