Tell Me Pink or Blue early gender test

Has anyone tried this? Was it wrong or right? I have two boys and was desperate to find out the sex of my third baby, so ordered this test from DNA Worldwide. You need to be at least eight weeks pregnant. You have to prick your finger then put drops of blood on a card, which is sent off to a lab in America. They can then see if DNA from a male foetus is present in your blood. If positive for male DNA - you're having a boy, if not, it's a girl. According to the test results, I'm having another boy. I'll know for sure at my 20 week scan later this week. HOwever, since I got my result I've done some research and discovered that many women have been given the wrong result. Let me know if you've tried it or know more about the science behind it...

I was going to buy one of these, but a new 4d scanning dept has opened up just down the road, so I am going to pay for a private scan there. Im only 8 week pg, so will wait a while yet, but the Gender Scan, is actually cheaper than the pink or blue test, and theres the added bonus of seeing your baby. Dont the people who make the test say that they will give you your money back if they give an inncoreect result? I think they do, thats why I was going to go ahead with it. But if you are still not sure, have a look at 4d scans near you, if you really want to find out.

Im not sure if its a scam or not, although it really does look impressive. They claim to be 95.4% accurate. Heres the link

Oodle · 10/09/2007 17:14

Thanks for the link - interesting. I was concerned about the lack of published data on their own method. I called up at the time I did the test and spoke to their director. He was rather vague and didn't convince me, but I did the test anyway! However, they claim 98 per cent accuracy, or around 95 per cent for people testing at home (the blood samples can get contaiminated by male DNA apparently). I've been on the Ingender website and there seem to be many women who've been given the wrong result. These women posted online after they received the Pink or Blue test results, but before they had the sex confirmed through amnio, ultrasound or by actually having the baby, so it's not just a place for pissed off women to have a moan. It all seems a bit suspicious to me now. Well, I'll know if it was right for me soon enough - if I decide to find out at my scan on Thurs!

Sorry, I meant the link to the Quack site which doesn't seem too impressed with the test!

I haven't but I did find out at 12 weeks with my last 2 what sex I was having. This was at a private scan though.

preggersagain · 11/09/2007 13:26

i used the intelligender unrine test one and it said boy BUT there has been a lot of reported inaccuracy- i don't mind if mine was wrong though as it was only £20- if the £189 was wrong i'd have issues!!!!!!!

mumzyof2 · 11/09/2007 13:27

How did they tell at 12 weeks? I thought it was 20 weeks? But I dont think I can wait that long. Im going to pay for a private 4d scan, but was going to wait till 20 weeks (im 8 weeks now) So can they tell at 12 weeks?

JodieG1 · 11/09/2007 13:28

Yes the professor doing my scan regularly sexes babies at 12 weeks. I had it done here www.createhealth.org, it's in London.

mumzyof2 · 11/09/2007 13:30

oh right, was a 4d? or a normal scan?

JodieG1 · 11/09/2007 13:52

It was both, he told me the sex from the normal scan part though.
