Will 30 be enough?

Difficult to say exactly how many. You could bleed for six weeks.
They are only £1 a pack in Sainsbury's though, so maybe get a few packs in in case and then replenish as and when needed.

leghairdontcare · 23/03/2020 18:13

Probably not

Onthedancefloor · 23/03/2020 18:16

Probably need about 60-100, the heavy bleeding does go on for quite a while, but may well vary. Initially you might well need to use 2 at a time.

SparkyBlue · 23/03/2020 18:17

No I'd pack extra. My waters broke at 6am and no labour pains until 10pm that might so
basically I had waters flowing all day so I went through tons of pads. You would be shocked at the amount that comes out. Then there is the bleeding afterwards and everyone is different so I'd rather have extra and plenty of spare underwear as well

The Lil-lets ones (which I heard are the best) have sold out everywhere Sad Can anyone recommend any other makes?

I've managed on the £1 Wilko ones...

Shelley54 · 23/03/2020 18:22

I had Boots own brand both times. Usually on 3 for 2. Got three and bought more when I needed them. They're big and solid and that's exactly what you want post birth!

wondering7777 · 23/03/2020 18:26

Thanks everyone. I've just ordered a load of these ones - they're not ideal as they don't have wings, but they're all I can get right now!

Good to see they have some positive reviews on MN. I was surprised to find them in stock at Boots.

I've bought 40 but worrying about getting more so may buy some more 🙈

modge · 23/03/2020 19:27

I used the Boots ones and found them to be pretty good. I ordered 3 packs (10 per pack) beforehand as all I could find online was "buy more than you think you'll need" which was massively useless for a clueless first time! In the end, I used 10 packs over the course of about a week and was then able to switch to normal sanitary towels.

OccasionalNachos · 23/03/2020 19:38

Yeah, buy loads. I had to beg a midwife for one after I used up the seven I brought in my hospital bag, & got told off! You need to change them very frequently too if you have a vaginal birth/stitches, for comfort and to avoid infection.

I had a mixture of Morrison’s own brand, mothercare and the ones that came in the Scottish baby box - not much in it between brands really

MotherofKitties · 23/03/2020 19:41

You'll need more than 30 OP. Try boots own brand, I would get 100 at least as you'll want to change often, and the initial bleed is very heavy. If you have some left over you can save them for normal periods.

squeakydog · 23/03/2020 19:53

Tena lady disposable incontinence pants are what you need!

Mum2b2020 · 24/03/2020 00:06

These are now sold out online in boots and with the lockdown it's just ridiculous. Theres not even any always night pads for delivery. So fed up of this now

Jesskir89 · 24/03/2020 00:32

Asdas own are fine. I'm 10 days in and used 3 packs bleeding has slowed right down but glad I bought 4 packs...
