Hello everyone,
I'm 18 weeks pregnant (should be a happy time but I am absolutely terrified) Anyway, my line of work is an Assistant on a small Deli counter in the local town where I work full time. Upon hearing Boris's guidelines for Vulnerable people to self isolate I did. sent in a self cert for 7 days, however that is now due to elapse and the situation is not looking any brighter. Is anyone else in the same situation as me? If so what are you doing? Employer said I am ok to self isolate but will only get ssp as I am not in danger of losing my job. Is this true if so will this affect my maternity pay? So sorry so many questions. TIA xx

I'm in the same boat, I work in a call centre where colleagues sit approx 1m if not less away from each other so am unable to social distance there. The unfortunate thing is it does affect mat pay by the look of it as the "qualifying weeks" are 17-25 I think.more info on the gov.uk website and a mat pay calculator. If you earn less than a certain amount per week in this time then you wont qualify for SMP but will be maternity allowance

Thanks for your reply. I am totally at a loss of what to do. My whole family are begging me not to go and put myself and my baby at risk. But I’m like but what about my pay. I’m also thinking I bet people are like if it was me and I was pregnant I would still go to work. Well I would be normally. But these aren’t just any normal circumstances :( Hope you manage to work our what to do for the best. X
