Would fibroids show on 20 week ultrasound scan?

I’ve been having trouble fully emptying my bladder and have been constipated, I went to my MAU recently who felt my tummy and gave me laxatives to see if they help.

I’ve just had a call from my GP to advise me if needed I can take up to 8 sachets a day of the laxative and if it doesn’t improve to come back in a week as it may be fibroids and they want to do a physical exam to check.

I’ve got my scan at the hospital on Thursday, would they be able to see this at the scan, and is it worth mentioning?

And would the hospital not have been able to feel them when they felt my tummy while I was there the other day? Not sure how a normal exam for fibroids would work.

Any info would be great as I’m now panicking Sad

I’ve got a big fibroid low down, and between 14-18 weeks it started to impede me doing a wee...if my bladder wasn’t full forget it, regardless of how much I thought I needed to go! The midwife told me I must go to A&e if couldn’t pee, luckily never got to this stage and after about 20w it eased up.

My fibroids are very visible on the scans, but it does make a difference in how experienced your sonographer is - I’d expect that as your fibroid is already known about, the person doing your scan will be as experienced as us available in your hospital x

Oh, and if they are really low in your pelvis or on the back of your uterus, they might not be “feelable” from the outside
