Hi everyone,

I am really desperate for some advice. I am 18 weeks pregnant with and not married to the Dad. We were in (what I thought was) a happy relationship until 2 weeks ago. He left me 2 weeks ago and says that he wants nothing to do with the baby, and when I have asked if he will support, he won't answer.

He obviously will not be present at the birth or will willingly sign the birth certificate, so will I still be entitled to receive CMS payments from him??

How can I set this up if he will not be listed on the birth certificate? I am desperate for advice, I am already heartbroken and really panicking about supporting the baby. Should I seek legal advice?

Any advice would be really appreciated x

He doesn’t need to be on the BC!

You just make him and they’ll find him and do the rest. If he denies paternity they will make him pay for a dna test.

Give them a call to put your mind at rest but you won’t be able to start a claim until the baby is here.

Good luck with your pregnancy and I’m sorry he’s such a shit.
