Just to say that where I am (central Scotland), all home births have been cancelled as the hospitals cannot spare the staff anymore.
Not sure what the situation will be like in 4 months but you might want to check with your midwife if it's even a possibility before you commit to the idea. X

Yes I think it might be tricky staffing wise. I didn't have a home birth but experiences from friends is mixed. Pretty positive for second or more child. Mostly negative for first child (the two women I know who tried got transferred into hospital still in the early stages of labour). I've read it's 50% transfer to hospital for first babies. Top tip is buy cheap shower curtains to protect furniture.

The whole situation actually sucks at the moment not the best time to be pregnant as I don't really want to be in hospital with the worst virus ever going around thanks for the replies I haven't been told
That there any shortage here at the moment I live in West Sussex just outside of London

Is this your 1st baby?
I have had a hospital birth then 2 home births. I loved my home births. All you can do is ring your midwife and ask whether it would be able to happen.

I had a home birth with my 2nd. I wish I'd had it with my first. It was great. It was a long time ago. He is 13. And I had a water birth.
I hope it works out for you.

Had one with my first. Desperately hoping it'll still be possible when my second arrives, due in a few months.

I had a unexpected home birth with my first. Initially went to the hospital got sent home and had my DD within 20 mins of arriving at home. I loved it, I'm now 27 weeks pregnant with my second and I have asked for another one but a little more planned this time
