34+5 and today I itch all over. Literally all over from top to toe.

I've also not been able to keep any food down today and I'm not feeling the best.

Any ideas??

Hate to bring up the C word but I have underlying health issues as well as being pregnant so don't want to go to the hospital if I can help it.

That's a serious condition to do with the liver I think.

Call midwife ASAP

Sexnotgender · 22/03/2020 19:52

Please phone your midwife!

Smellbellina · 22/03/2020 19:52

Just to add, you need to phone your midwife.

Nquartz · 22/03/2020 19:52

Call someone urgently. My friend was induced early because of this

AmputatedSoul · 22/03/2020 19:54

Bugger. Thanks ladies, I'll call.

There's something it could be which can be serious. There are also other things it could be which aren't serious.

Please call your midwife ASAP (can you call the maternity ward yet? If so they could offer advice this evening)

One cause is the liver kicking out bile acid when it shouldn't and this can cause problems for the baby whilst in situ. Obstetric Cholestasis (sp? it's 16 years since I had it, was monitored closely and brought 2 weeks early by ELCS however I don't think they do that now... My knowledge is out of date). You'll need a blood test to check your Liver Function to see if it is OC.

OC can also mimic pre-eclampsia, so it really is best you get checked out ASAP to rule out the scary stuff.

It could be and is most likely something super simple and boring like stretchy skin or being too hot.

Take care x

BuyingaHome · 22/03/2020 20:08

Thought I'd revisit this post as didn't want to upset you.

It could be totally fine and just annoying stretchy skin. My bump drove me mad!!

If it's hands or bottom of feet, that's when it's serious. Call midwife or 111

Let us know how you get on?

Spice04 · 22/03/2020 20:12

Hey. Hoped you've called. I had OC last year with my daughter. Please get tested as its important that this is monitored and treated. Wishing you all the best x

AmputatedSoul · 22/03/2020 20:16

I'll call my midwife or GP first thing in the morning. I'm at home with my 3 year old at the minute and finding someone to sit with her is an issue.
I'd also much rather go to my GP than the hospital to be checked, the waiting room is so small if anyone in there has CV I would 100% catch it. There's no way you can be 2m away from anyone in there.
Will definitely call first thing though, it's only started today, hopefully it'll be gone tomorrow and its because I'm tired 🤞🏻

Just to add, this isn't one of those "I have symptoms but am going to ignore everyone's advice" kind of threads. I am going to call.

Ring your maternity unit now. They will be able to advise over the phone what is safest to do.

Butterflyball · 22/03/2020 20:26

I had exactly what you are describing when I was pregnant with my second. I casually mentioned it to midwife at appointment that was coincidentally the same day and was straight for a blood test and carted off to hospital. I had coleosatis (liver disease) it's easily treated but left would have been very very harmful to me and unborn baby. Please please please I know how difficult it is to get help with babysitting your eldest but you must go, it's not worth the risk to leave it.

AmputatedSoul · 22/03/2020 20:58

Thanks all, just waiting for MIL to get here then I'm off to be assessed.

Fingers crossed it's nothing.

I had obstetric cholestasis 18 years ago with my second baby, I was induced 4 weeks early all fine please get tested x

AmputatedSoul · 23/03/2020 01:49

I've been, had blood tests done and they think I may also have preeclampsia so I've got to go back in tomorrow.

Thanks for the support, really glad I went now.

ThunderPython · 23/03/2020 10:57

Oh so relived you got seen. I was trying not to panic you in my reply but let's just say your thread is the first thing I've checked on the Internet this morning.

You're in safe hands now and will be monitored closely. Sending you lots of virtual hugs.

AmputatedSoul · 23/03/2020 11:52

Thank you @ThunderPython I'm waiting for the daily assessment unit to call me today with my results.
I'm still itching so somethings not right.

I'll update when I know more.
