How to stomach drinking powdered laxative (laxido) HELP

I’ve been prescribed this for bad constipation but I literally cannot drink it 🤮

It makes the water thick and I’ve had such a sensitive gag reflex due to horrible nausea since day 1 that the second I try drink it it comes straight back up :(

I’ve tried diluting it with loads of water, downing it as a shot and both ways are disgusting Blush

Has anyone else had this issue? Do you think I could mix it with juice or pop instead of water to mask the taste? Please throw ideas at me 😂

I’ve added a pic of the stuff I mean Sad

I'd definitely try mixing it, though I found a large bowl of Bran flakes every day did the trick for me!

Don’t dilute it as you’re meant to have it in that anount of water for a reason. My sons nurse told him salty foods beforehand help
Don’t use pop but strong diluting juice? Ribena? It is horrible but if you really can’t stomach it ask for an alternative?

I found leaving it to sit for 10/15mins after I had stirred it all together well, made it easier to stomach taste wise for some reason.

Try adding squash and drink as quick as possible

I find mixing it with warm water helps, it seems to dissolve easier I can down it one instead of gagging

Have you tried a straw? That was the only way I could bear Movicol when I was prescribed it (sorry if it's not the same thing). Straw back of mouth, straight down, avoids the taste buds.

I had to take this and a soluble iron mix. I used to mix them both in apple juice and then drink it off while holding my breath. It was the only way to keep it down!

Ps - I've seen someone recommend the Ella's kitchen prune sachets as another way to help get things moving.

If anyone arrives here in 2025 (or the future I suppose!) here's my top tip after I was almost vomiting from the taste of Laxido on its own - add a bit of sugar-free squash (I use summer berries but I guess just experience), a generous squeeze of lime juice (or a good pour of bottled lime juice), and a couple of ice cubes. I tried with lemon which did offset the saltiness but just wasn't to my taste, but with the lime and the sweetness of a nice squash flavour it's reminiscent of a tequila-based short cocktail like a margarita, where you get the saltiness first and then the tropical bite of the lime. I'm using this after gastric bypass and it's working a treat for me! Hope this helps!
