Any advice on which herbal/fruit teas are safe during pregnancy?

apple and cinnamon works well together and is safe, as is mint

I'm really into herbal teas and pretty sure I posted about this when I first became pregnant too! I found out that most herbal teas you find at the supermarket are completely fine - just don't have more than 4 cups a day is what the NHS says.

My midwife said the fruity ones are fine, even though they have hibiscus (it's such a tiny amount). There is quite a lot of info out there saying to avoid all sorts of things including cammomile. I mostly avoided cammomile during first trimester but I have it now.
Peppermint is great, lemon and ginger is fab.
Just be careful to avoid drinking a lot of caffienated tea (green tea, black tea, matcha, yerbe mate) and don't drink raspberry leaf tea until the 3rd trimester (I think a week or two before the due date you are advised to drink it!).

My advice is to ask your midwife - they are often a very sensible source of advice and they help to dispel the myths that abound on the internet!

If you have a history of miscarriage or in first trimester, probably wise to be a bit more careful. x

I found fennel worked a treat with nausea, also camomile and cinnamon was a fav. I read spearmint was not recommended and definitely no raspberry leaf. Not herbal as such, but I opt for rooibos a lot and loving it.

Rooibos, mint, ginger, lemon all ok.

Thanks everyone Smile
