Can’t stand the smell of my husband

I’m 8 weeks pregnant and for the last week or so I have threw up everyday and not really a fan of food at the moment or certain smells. Before pregnancy I actually liked my husbands smell even in the morning he didn’t seem to smell bad at all. But OMG since pregnancy he absolutely stinks! His breath smells like he’s eaten garlic bread everyday even though he hasn’t, he likes a drink on a Friday and it stinks the whole room out especially in the morning. The smells makes me sick and I feel like I’m nagging at him and making him feel crap but I can’t help it! 😭

This happened to me. It WILL get better OP. Hang in there and try your best to not hurt his feelings but explain that it's unbearable for you

The same thing happened to me! I'm now 13 weeks pregnant and it is getting a little better.

In terms of my sickness I was prescribed Promethazine hydrochloride from the doctor and when I got into a good routine of taking them it really helped with the sickness. I'm now managing to keep everything I eat (although not huge meals) down and more importantly I'm keeping water down.

In terms of my partner I totally know how you feel (especially the drink on a Friday night/smell on Saturday morning). I resorted to sleeping in the spare room because I couldn't get to sleep because of the smell. I was also certain that the brand of soap he used just wasn't doing anything so I "accidentally" bought him a different stronger scented brand but to no avail. However, I don't know if it's because I'm officially out of the first trimester or the fact that I am no longer nauseous all the time because of the meds but the smell has lessened. Which is wonderful because we are now stuck in the house together 24/7 haha.

It will get better though and if he gets upset reassure him that you're not the only pregnant lady who goes through this, some people can't stand the smell of their own children.

Ahahahaha OMG!!!

OP!! My husbands breath was STAGNANT in my first trimester! It was absolutely horrific and I couldn’t stand it!!

It will pass and hopefully your husband will understand it’s just one of the many pregnant wife things he will get to experience!!

Same here! It was like he hadn't brushed his teeth. Only lasted a couple of weeks though, I think was gone by week 11.

I was the same, especially with DC 1.

Thankfully DH was v gracious in the face of me saying “Sorry darling, but your natural scent is making me feel sick.”

It did get better!!!

It was my pre teen who seemed to be emanating hormones from every pore that made me want to vomit, the poor kid!
I felt so guilty and obv never said a word but oh it was unbearable! I used to sniff pieces of orange peel to help.
