Hello,

Just looking to see if anyone is in the same situation as me or has any positive stories for me regarding falling pregnant quite quickly after having mirena coil removed. I am only just about to turn 6 weeks pregnant, and I am terrified of miscarriage. Given the current climate I've almost been forced to tell close family we are expecting and now scared something will happen. I read that you should try and have a period before conceiving, but that never happened for me. I didn't bleed the whole time I had my coil in either.

Hi op

I too fell pregnant the month after having my coil removed. I had what I thought was a light period about four weeks later, but based on when my dd was born, I think it was actually an implantation bleed.

I had my coil removed by a consultant gynaecologist and she told me there was no need to wait for periods to restart before ttc though I'll admit I was shocked that it happened so quickly.

I had some spotting at about 8 weeks and had an early scan, which confirmed there was a heartbeat. And then a healthy pregnancy from then. The spotting was never explained- apparently that just happens sometimes.

Hope that provides some reassurance. Good luck with your pregnancy.

My friend was the same. No problem with the pregnancy and her baby (born in January) is lovely!

Having my coil removed was what caused me to conceive, as doc didn't ask how long I'd abstained for. Baby was absolutely fine, he's now a very bright 5 year old (in spite of being conceived from 'old' sperm 5 or so days after we dtd!)

When I had my coil removed to try for baby#2 the doctor even said we will probably see you in a month with good news as it is so common to fall pregnant immediately. I did too, sadly it didn't work out but it was a chromosomal thing (tested in erpc) so nothing to do with the coil removal. Congratulations on your exciting news!
