Would you phone the hospital/maternity for this?

2nd day in a row I’ve had visual disturbances, flashing lights, pieces missing from my vision etc. Followed by an all day headache yesterday. Had the same symptoms with my first child and assumed it was aura migraine. Same thing has happened tonight, vision slightly better but my head feels tight/pressure. With everything going on I really really don’t want to go to hospital. Should I phone maternity assessment or wait it out?

Always phone, to be safe.

You need a bp check. Could just be migraine but I would recommend you phone and get checked. How many weeks pregnant and is baby moving as normal?

Spinbaby · 20/03/2020 19:30

I’m 32 weeks and baby has been moving fine all night

It sounds a bit like an optical migraine but being pregnant you need your blood pressure checking

HopelesslyExhausted · 20/03/2020 19:31

Student midwife here - definitely get checked, these are signs of preeclampsia

Good news that baby is moving well. Still need to be checked. Other symptoms to watch out for are swollen hands legs and face, pain under ribs on right hand side (like heartburn). They will need to check your wee too.

Those where my first symptoms when I had pre-eclampsia, DD ended up being born early by emergency caesarean, you need to ring the ward.

WreckTangled · 20/03/2020 19:41

Yes. I had this when I had pre-eclampsia.
