Pregnancy insomnia - or CV anxiety?

Hi everyone

I’m 10 weeks and am in an unfortunate routine where I wake up about 2 - 3am (either on my own or my toddler stirs) and then am wide awake for at least 2 / 2 and a half hours before going back to sleep. I am then awake at 7am again, often before my toddler gets up. Even if DH could give me a lie in there’s no point as I’m already awake!

Is this normal pregnancy insomnia or am I just over anxious about CV - this is basically what I think about when I am wide awake and looking at Mumsnet or twitter.

If it’s normal and going to go in a few weeks I could cope better. I am still working full time so no opportunities for naps!

Anyone else in the same boat?

@ZsaZsaMc Sorry to hear you're struggling sleeping. I had pregnancy insomnia throughout my 2nd trimester which subsided as I entered my 3rd trimester - I'm now 38+3 and have started to wake up at around 3am and then awake for an hour or so! Inevitably I'm awake throughout the night for the 15463 wee's but I think the insomnia is something some women just experience and have to get through, although I know it's difficult especially if you've got a toddler already.

I hope it eases off for you x

Sounds like pretty standard pregnancy insomnia from my experience unfortunately. I'm 27+3 now and suffered with insomnia from week 10 until around week 23 (thought I was never going to get a decent sleep ever again). It has improved slightly,I still wake regularly but manage to drift back off again quite quickly.

Although, with everything going on re Coronavirus,it won't help that those thoughts are swirling around your head.

Hopefully it settles for you sooner than it did for me.

I have insomnia during pregnancy in first trimester, still having it in second, I'd say it sounds like it's that!

Ah ok definitely sounds like pregnancy insomnia then - really annoying as I’m so tired during the day but at 3am wide awake! But hopefully will pass.

And at some point I’ll be able to stay up past 9pm!
