Anyone else in retail and unable to isolate or social distance?

Currently 22+4, working in retail. Unable to self isolate because I'll only get SSP and can't live off that, think it will also effect my SMP? Feeling very overwhelmed and nervous. Have also already come into contact with people who have the virus symptoms. Sad

Hi yep I’m 26 weeks today and a food retail store manager. Same position so far. Have been advised I can use annual leave to cover if I wish to social distance/ self isolate or unpaid leave which I can’t afford just before being on a reduced wage on maternity! My only plans so far are to bring my end date forward by using my holiday which I hadn’t originally planned to do. Still means I need to work for another 6 weeks though! It’s a scary time but trying to keep as clean as possible and limit actual contact with customers. Take care!

We're in bars.
Not me but my colleague is pregnant.
Some customers and staff have exhibited symptoms. She can't isolate because she is the main earner and she has two other children to support.

She's terrified.

It's so awful. I'm on edge whenever I'm at work now!

I work in an opticians and am in the same position. I could work from home doing admin but my boss refuses. I'm terrified , he won't buy cleaning supplies , sanitiser ... I'm off sick with stress but will have to go back soon as it will be my qualifying week for SMP. My union have told me that social
Distancing or having ssp shouldn't affect smp but until it's in black and white I won't believe it

Yes! Although I'm thinking of taking early maternity? 31 weeks and I just don't think my employer has taken enough steps to help me out, I can't go on the till but can replenish stock on the shop floor and share a toilet/ office with colleagues that can. It makes no sense and the stress of it all is worse than the virus! I'm just sad I'll have to go back earlier, I'm very fortunate to be able to take maternity now although not so much giving birth whilst this is still going on! Was nervous about birth as it is Sad
