Hi!
Had my 12 week scan today and all good so happy!
Only thing is the sonographer mentioned that the baby had a lot of amniotic fluid around it which you can see in scan picture, she didn’t seem to say is as something to be concerned about she just seemed to drop it as an observation but I’m just wondering is this something to be concerned about/is this normal? Has anybody else had this?
I know she probably would have flagged it up properly if it was a big concern but just wondering if anyone has any insight :)

Thank you :)

I've not had it and I'm no expert but I read it can be related to gestational diabetes. Just found out I have g d you see!

Did she measure the fluid?

Hi congratulations, sorry I can't help as I haven't had mine yet but I just wondered whether anybody was allowed in with you? I've seen a few girls saying partners not allowed at the min but my hospital haven't said that yet and mine is next week. Thanks.

Ahhh thank you all I will speak to my midwife! How do they test for GD is it a blood test?

@cookielove I don’t think she did measure it I thought it was a bit odd that she just kind of mentioned it and didn’t really follow up!

@Bean20 the policy at my hospital today was just 1 person allowed in with you and no children allowed on site!

I cannot remember at my 12 week scan but at my 20, 24 and 28 week scan (i do have gd) they did measure the fluid.

I would ask your midwife at 16 weeks x

@stickytoffeepud123 thank you! That's the policy at mine anyway I believe. Fingers crossed it stays this way!

I had this 18 years ago! From what I recall I had blood tests for GD and extra scans to measure the fluid. All was well.
