Labour that stops?

Has anyone had contractions that just stop?
I am 39+5 and was up from 2am last night having regular contractions every 8 mins lasting around 50 seconds. After about 4 hours I called to ask at what point I should head in just so I knew and was told when reached every 3/4 mins.
I tried to rest in mean time and now I'm hardly having any contractions and not regular 😭

Yes, with ds(2) I had contractions in the early hours for a week before finally getting a day where the didn't stop. With dd(2 months) I had a couple of hours of regular contractions which completely stopped for about 5 hours, then restarted and didn't stop

Thank you for the reply. I haven't had this with my other pregnancies so was just frustrated thinking I've got it wrong. Called my mum to come watch the other DC's as I was worried it would all happen quickly in the middle of the night and now nothing. I have had contractions a few times over the past week or so that came to nothing but I thought this must be it as it went on for so long 😔 I guess it's another waiting game.

@YouCantBeSadHoldingACupcake contractions lessened and continued through the night and became more regular soon as I got up on Thursday. DS arrived safely Thursday night. Thank you very much for asking.
