this happened monday and they told me to come back tomorrow and i'm worried it will be cancelled again. i've had bad allergies and exactly three weeks got a cough and irritated lungs. never had a temperature. been to gp twice and last thurs she gave me antibiotics which i've finished but it hasn't shifted my mild sore throat or upper chest / throat irritation. of course i have to tell the secretary this in the morning as she told me to ring before my appointment to tell them how i am feeling. to be honest i'm feeling really alone with this as i would like to know what is really wrong and if the baby is ok. i have bad allergies and sneeze a lot in the morning and my mum thinks it's all down to a post-nasal drip. i don't have any symptoms or coronavirus, have been working from home for the past two weeks nearly and my husband has no symptoms of anything!

i'm just whining but really want to see that the baby is ok, as i am an older mum etc

Which of your scans is it - 12 weeks, 20 weeks or one of the later ones?

I'm in no position to advise, but didn't want your post to go unanswered. x

thanks its 20 weeks but i'm just a little under that

I'm sure you'll be fine and so will your baby. There's no point in putting yourself at risk by going to a hospital and the department is probably understaffed at the moment any way. Just relax, people didn't have scans years ago and still managed to have babies.

Hope all goes well gor you. I have an US app booked for next week and i am worried not to develop any symptoms and have my scan delayed. I suffer from hay fever.

Emberfoot · 17/03/2020 21:09

Imo the 20wk scan is extremely important. It can find all sorts of problems early so the hospital can prepare to treat them straight after birth. In our case it found two serious heart defects which would have killed the baby within days of birth if we hadn't had the scan.

If you know your symptoms are due to allergies, just tell the hospital you feel fine and go get your scan. 20 week scan is too important to miss.

thanks everyone, i appreciate it. i couldn't lie to them, i have to ring them in the morning and say how i'm feeling. everyone on the front line is working so hard and honestly i really want to ask someone how i can clear up this chest tightness. i'm pretty sure it's allergies as i'm sneezing a lot but can't be sure and don't want to put any other ladies at risk in case it is viral and causes anyone to become run down during a time when everyone needs all their strength and resources. my care is consultant led so i'm sure i will be looked after soon. fingers crossed i get the scan tomorrow tho

@DJBebe i get awful hayfever too and this feels like it a bit, when it's been really bad.

I had my 20 week at 21 weeks, it makes no difference. I understand your worry but please be patient and truthful. There will be far bigger issues if there are no sonographers because they've had to isolate!
