this is a bit dull but does anyone know, is there a sick bug going round?

all m/s stopped at 8 wks. not that i was ever sick, just nauseous. but yesterday and today i've got up and thrown up in quick succession. am feeling pretty bleughrr overall, but have no appetite so i'm pretty empty. tummy ok though.

i've got the tailend of a cold and loads of catahrr (sp) which might have something to do with it... or has anyone heard of m/s returning at this stage?

ooh poor you. there's a lot of nasty stuff around atm, but i only know of mostly coldy/fluey things. the rate of dd2's snot production is a thing of awe. did you go on hols btw? if yes, how was it?? x

bakedpotato · 05/10/2004 12:06

it was LOVELY. the sun never stopped shining and the people were kindness itself. if anyone is doing an archive search on ocakkoy in turkey: it's tops.

think we caught the colds from the aircon. it was unseasonally hot for 2 nights

a bit grim to come back to heaving over loo or, worse, kitchen waste disposal unit

btw bundle, i know i said i'd let you know, but now i am wavering about finding out the sex (final amnio result came in while we were away all fine). i've sort of gone off the idea want to pretend it's been a normal uneventful pg -- but DH now keen to find out, since we'd sort of agreed we would. it's agonising knowing that THEY know and i could know in 2 mins if i picked up phone... but i feel averse for mysterious reasons... i suppose i want to wrest control away from THEM somehow

bp, it did feel like some of the mystery had gone once we found out the sex..and in fact with dd1 (didn't want to know that time) i did find out, when i went in for a sweep..the consultant left my notes open with the amnio result on top..it said FEMALE and I thought...oh that must be baby then, because only women have amnios...but i didn't tell dh and it was only a week to go, but felt like a very cosy secret between me & dd1
in a way i think it helped dd1 knowing her sister was on her way, rather than just a baby. do whatever you think best. and i hope the vomiting recedes..i'm glad you had a break, x

i can see it would be very nice/helpful in some ways for dd to know if it's a brother or a sister... a good reason to go for it.

i also have a fear i'll find out accidentally, someone will let it slip or, like you, i'll catch sight of the amnio result, so perhaps it would make sense to find out on our terms

i have major control issues, as you can see...

have a suspicion anyway because i THINK one of the soft markers is more common in one sex than the other... when i stumbled across that, though, it made me more decided than ever not to find out 'officially'. i like thinking about the two possibilities, it would be sad somehow to stop thinking about one of them. it doesn't matter in the delivery room, you've got a baby to think about then, but at this stage it would seem a little like saying goodbye...

i'm sounding a bit nutty now

bakedpotato, nutty is allowed - nay, positively encouraged when pregnant

bakedpotato, i had a bug for all last week.
I was not seeing my midwife for another few eeks so i called her and she did a home visit.
I felt awful, actually got dp home oneday as i needed a lie down and i NEVER do that!!
Anyway, i have low iron too (she took blood as i was so pale), so have been given iron tablets but i think the bug was unrelated. (Got to hear baby's heartbeat though for the first time so huge bonus)
