Nw sticks a finger up you and moves it around your cervix in a circular motion. It's a bit uncomfortable. She did it on a Monday and i noticed my plug coming away by Wednesday and then my waters broke.

Had one yesterday lunch time. Baby arrived last night Grin Just for a little positivity for you! I’ve had sweets with both my babies & both times was in active labour 6 hours later!

It’s uncomfortable but not painful. Basically running their fingers round the cervix and giving it a bit of a nudge!

Wow congratulations!
still not had any sign of baby lost some brown discharge This morning but was tiny amount and no pain. Never wanted to be in labour so much!

Midwife did say she could feel his head and feel waters and cervix was partially soft! Hoping he will come tonight on his own so I don't have to be induced!

Mine was very painful. Worse than the beginnings of labour for definite

Skeeter2020 · 19/03/2020 15:06

@Bol87 Mumsnet the day after giving birth?

MsChatterbox · 19/03/2020 15:46

Mine was really painful and didn't work. I'm refusing it next time. I hope for you it's a different story!

MsChatterbox · 19/03/2020 15:47

What your midwife says sounds really positive 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

@Skeeter2020 ???

Bol87 · 19/03/2020 16:47

@Skeeter2020 - seeing as my hospital has banned any visitors bc& my partner has had to go home to look after our daughter as nursery is closed & our only childcare is my high risk mum who is meant to be isolating, excuse me for pottering on the Internet to pass the time on my own all day. I’ve also watched a movie, chatted to my friends on WhatsApp & read some of my book as well, is that OK? 🙄 baba is happily snoozing in arms as she has most of the day.

Good grief, talk about judgemental. Try to not immediately judge someone hey, you’ve no idea the situation! 🙄😠

I had a sweep at 40 weeks. She couldn't get to my cervix so it was a no go. My plug came away 4 days later, then when I was due to go for another sweep a week later, I had gone into labour naturally that morning, before my sweep.

It was uncomfortable but I took it as a chance to practice my breathing!!

All the best to you

@skeeter2020 - really uncalled for.

Peanut55 · 19/03/2020 17:02

@Bol87 congratulations on your newborn.

Jomum2020 · 19/03/2020 17:06

@Bol87 I’ve seen you on the hyperemesis thread, so pleased to read your baby is here now. Congratulations x

OP I have no experience of sweeps but I hope it helps you on the way!
