Struggling a lot! :( Excess saliva, compulsively swallowing air :( :(

Hi everyone. I'm really struggling right now because for 4 days I've been compulsively swallowing air and I can't seem to stop. I've noticed my saliva production also seems to have increased and this seems to be part of it. My mouth produces saliva, then feels like air is also trapped, I have to swallow the saliva and either swallow the air along with it or try to expel the air first by kind of popping it out of my mouth. I know it probably sounds really weird! My partner doesn't understand it at all. No one I know has ever had it. It coincided with drinking some sparkling water initially but I've not had any since. It also coincided with my nausea and morning sickness finally lifting at bang on 16 weeks. I'm so sad because I finally feel good and have energy but now I have this horrible air swallowing thing. Even when I burp the air up the next thing my body does is swallow more down. I'm so stressed it's going to last forever. Has anyone had this? Does anyone have any tips? I've tried calming teas, going for a run, rescue remedy, even meditation. Nothing seems to properly work. If I distract myself it is OK for a while but it's like a fixation now and it keeps coming back. It's just so so annoying and stressful.

Maybe no one has had this and I'm on my own :(

I know what you’re describing but it’s not something I’ve had in pregnancy or that I remember friends saying they’ve had. Could you try sucking boiled sweets? When are you next due a MW/Cons app? It might be worth asking if they have any tips. Sorry not to be more help Flowers

Thank you @BernardsarenotalwaysSaints! I think it must be to do with anxiety. I was feeling very desperate this morning. Feeling slightly better now... just spitting out the saliva a lot rather than swallowing all the time... trying to have faith it's not forever. xx

Hiya I get this but for me, only when I'm about to/trying not to vomit. My sickness is finally getting a bit better (18w) but I used to gag a lot and then swallow loads of air by accident, also hypersalivate like my body was getting ready to throw up. I had to take deep breaths and burp it up otherwise I'd vomit
