12 week scan next week and one confirmed case in hosptial

I have my 12 week scan next week, just now the local paper said there is one in the hosptial in isolation. My anxiety is going through the roof. I have a face mask and gloves, I am ringing midwife up immediately tomorrow to ask to go in soon as possible so I can self isolate. I have 7 cases near my hometown now.

There virus doesn’t infect the entire hospital & all staff from one person! Everyone needs to calm down a little. They’ve lumped pregnant woman into the vulnerable category because they don’t have conclusive evidence either way. So they are hedging their bets. Which is sensible. So far, there has been no evidence of pregnant woman having any worse symptoms than those who weren’t. And no pregnant woman have died. So they are different to the rest of the vulnerable category.

Hospitals are being extremely careful. The patient would have been isolated upon testing & remain isolated. Hospitals are very cleaned multiple times a day. The doctors treating the patient are not going to be sonographers. The person doing your scan will have had zero contact with the patient.

You need to go for your scans, they are classed as essential. Just take sensible measure. Face masks don’t work. But gloves aren’t a bad shout. And wash your hands.
