So just saw Boris Johnson's conference said pregnant women are also added to the vulnerable group and should self isolate!? But what about working pregnant ladies what should they do!? I work for the MOJ which is a goverment department would they be more lenient towards me? What should I do? So confused still have 13 weeks to start maternity leave

I've just seen this also...I wasn't too worried or concerned before today...
Now I'm a little unsure and confused! How far do we take precautions with work etc? I'm same as you and have 13weeks left! Is there more to it then what is being said hence the extra precautions.... x

Baby00 · 16/03/2020 18:55

Hey! I'm in the same department! I'm working from home for foreseeable future as instructed by my director. Are you able to work from home? I'm nearly 19 weeks so got a while to go before maternity leave!

pollypocketrocket · 16/03/2020 18:57

Surely the PM has just said pregnant woman to self isolate for 12 weeks then that means not going to work?

SexTrainGlue · 16/03/2020 19:01

The 'at risk' group will be asked to self isolate for at least 12 weeks, starting shortly (probably this weekend)

So you've got 4?days to scrabble round to find your work-arounds

notinthestarsigns · 16/03/2020 19:02

Im only 7 and a half weeks and didn’t want to tell work yet but worried I have no choice but to now

Emmaaa1990 · 16/03/2020 19:06

I was thinking this! I leave for maternity 9th April but thinking of just bringing it forward... it will be such a rush and will probably leave work in the shit but gotta do what's best for me and baby! So difficult tho isn't it

JurassicShay · 16/03/2020 19:08

I'm 29 weeks and don't work but I'm pulling my 5 year old from school now so I don't have to do school runs. I won't be leaving the house for the foreseeable unless it for midwife or hospital appointments.

daisy129437 · 16/03/2020 19:11

Terrified but only going to go to essential appointments, midwife, hospital scans, consultant... etc. Otherwise I'm staying put until my c section in 8 weeks.

Yeah this says from this weekend...

Pregnant women included in high at risk for coronavirus uk what to do now!?
OhhBoyy · 16/03/2020 19:12

I saw that announcement, 12 weeks?! 3 months?! I have the anomaly scan in 2 - surely they can’t suggest that we skip scans? I’m not worried about catching the virus as everything so far seems to say there isn’t an increased risk of complications for pregnant women, so why are we now in the vulnerable group? Are they just covering their backs?

jdy123 · 16/03/2020 19:13

I think I read it as in there wasn't enough evidence to say we weren't at risk so guess they have to be cautious ?

eandz13 · 16/03/2020 19:13

Has it been said why? I thought there weren't any added risks? Sorry I've just napped and woke up to the news and now I'm shitting it a bit at 19 weeks!

Letmehelpyoufindthedoor · 16/03/2020 19:14

I'm 29 weeks and a chef. Looks like I'll have to go on leave early as I guess my work place will also shut down soon. Sad

HolsF28 · 16/03/2020 19:16

I can't afford to be off work for 3 months that's crazy! I don't get how they can say we are now the most vulnerable when a week ago we weren't at any more risk. I'm getting really angry with the media and all this now cause it's causing so much stress for pregnant women when we don't need anyMore!

Jch89 · 16/03/2020 19:18

I'm only 10 weeks but my boss has advised me to work from home, in terms of self isolation 12 weeks seems a long time to not do anything/ go anywhere

bubba22 · 16/03/2020 19:19

It’s so confusing

mouse1234567 · 16/03/2020 19:24

I’m quite pleased that the government are finally addressing pregnant women. I’m a teacher and this evening from lowing this advice have told work I can’t come in anymore. I feel awful letting people down but also don’t want to take any risks and want to follow advice.

Hopefully others can work from home and still get paid?

Bookworm83 · 16/03/2020 19:26

I only have 3 days until my maternity leave so not as affected as many other ladies, but I am worried about how this whole situation will affect my rights when giving birth.

I'm planning to have 2 birth partners with me - my husband and my doula. But am now hearing that many hospitals are restricting it to one partner only.

On top of that they've restricted visiting hours so I'm panicking that I'll be left on my own without my husband if I have to be kept longer.

Also worried they might use the virus as an excuse not to let me use the birthing pool!

kaxxz · 16/03/2020 19:30

I also work for Moj and I'm pregnant too. I would recommend calling your manager and explaining that you need to self isolate. I recall reading the coronavirus guidance on Moj Intranet which also said if a woman is pregnant and wishes to self isolate then she can.

Ready4abreak · 16/03/2020 19:30

From what I can tell its just a precaution as they don't know enough about the virus and any illness can be a risk to pregnant women (hence why we are given the flu jab).

I'm on maternity leave already and due my section next Wednesday but have decided to pull my 3 year old DS from nursery for now as I also have rheumatoid arthritis which it appears puts me into a risk category too!

If you are still at work I would ask to work from home if possible. Otherwise what I heard and having read advice it is more social distancing they want us to do than complete social isolation.

Be interesting to see what will happen in relation to my DH coming into hospital with me next week though.

AudHvamm · 16/03/2020 19:31

Important clarification from the Department of Health: twitter.com/PaulBrandITV/status/1239616279398449152?s=20

So not immediate self isolation for 12 weeks, reduced contact advised for pregnant women.

emilyjh40 · 16/03/2020 19:43

Hmm. I'm 20 weeks and am a bit worried at this new advice that pregnant women are in the at risk category.
Im a science technician in a school, so not sure if this means I should stay home? I really don't get why they aren't closing schools- lots of kids are being kept off anyway, and there are fewer teachers due to people self isolating as a precaution.
Could do with them releasing clearer advice - it's confusing!

singme · 16/03/2020 19:45

I’m due in 2 weeks- seems sensible if I’m going to self isolate to start from now rather than the weekend. Would rather be virus free than put the NHS under pressure by arriving in labour unwell!

Quail15 · 16/03/2020 19:51

I'm only 5 and a half weeks pregnant but had to tell my boss this morning. I work in A&E as an AHP but have been told I may have to be redeployed if needed. I had to let my boss know about my early (surprise) pregnancy so I don't get placed somewhere inappropriate.... I can't see me being able to stay off work for 12 weeks and I can't see how I can 'reduce contact' with my patients 🤷

november90 · 16/03/2020 19:52

I don't understand how I can self isolate when I have a 3 year old and I'm 33 weeks pregnant and still at work!! I'm so stressed!!!
