hey guys

when is the average time to have a baby shower?
My due date is the 3rd August and I was thinking of doing it the 23rd May, this will make me just under 30w (29+6)

is this too early? whats the average? June and July is really busy for my family and friends so this date works for most but im worried if its seen as too early?

when did you all have yours?

PS- to all of those that say you don't believe in baby showers, its all a waste of money, time etc etc. please save yourself the time and effort of typing, im not asking for your opinion on if I should or shouldn't have 1. I'm simply asking when to do it. Thanks!

xx

Don't. Sorry they make me cringe and they're totally unnecessary. Just my opinion.

My baby shower is booked for 4th July and I am due 19th August. Just having an afternoon tea with family and friends. I'll be around 34 weeks

I think that date sounds good OP. Hope you have a lovely time. It's lovely that your family and friends want to do that for you ☺️

Why people can't read the OP and still bang on that baby showers are cringe etc, I'll never know. You're being negative for the sake of it and it's mean!

essexanon · 16/03/2020 12:17

thank you @PsychoWiener for your kind words.
I know, its like people comment out of spite when they have been asked not to. im sure they get a kick out of being mean x

@Blondie1092 OP specifically said she didnt want your opinion. Just because you have one, doesnt mean you have to share it!

I have just had mine yesterday and am 35 weeks pregnant I also had one the 1st time at 34 weeks I think 26 weeks is a but early and would do it no earlier than 32 weeks if I was you as people like to see you when you are full bloom xx

secretllama · 16/03/2020 15:25

Ignore all the people being negative. These people love to jump in just to point out they dont like baby showers. Fab , but noone cares. Do what you want and enjoy the celebration with friends and family Smile

I had mine yesterday at 35 weeks, like another poster I too was knackered by the end of it but it was such a lovely day! However as others have said it's difficult times to arrange gatherings, I had a few people pull out as they didnt feel comfortable with coming or were slightly down with colds and didnt want to panic people.

I would have it when you are between 34 and 36 weeks pregnant. You don't want it too early, but you don't want to feel really uncomfortable and heavily pregnant during it.

HarrietM87 · 16/03/2020 22:34

After the news today, guess the answer is never!

Bezalelle · 16/03/2020 22:59

I'm not being "unkind" here, but would you really invite a load of people into your vicinity when you're in a high risk group for corona? Doesn't seem like a good idea.

As gutted as we are, we’ve just cancelled ours. Was due to have it beginning of April but after the latest advice, we’re going into isolation mode.
My wife and I both have asthma and I am currently 32 weeks nearly so it didn’t seem worth the risk.
