NHS sick pay/pregnancy related

I am currently 28 + 3 and suffering with incredible paid with SPD and SIJ. I am a nurse and have been off sick for the past 2 weeks as unable to walk and currently on crutches. I have been signed off sick for another month and have been advised that this will probably last until I go on mat leave. I am aware that my maternity leave will automatically start at 36 weeks due to being off long term sick. However, I wanted to pick someone’s brain regarding sick pay. I am currently in my fourth year working for this NHS trust and I believe I should get 5 months full pay and 5 months half pay, is this correct and also what do they mean by full pay my average normal wage? This is also all pregnancy related so I know it doesn’t affect my sickness however just wondered about pay.

I am absolutely unable to work as I’m currently housebound as struggling with stairs as we have a number of steps up to our front door (damn buying a house on a hill!) so that means being redeployed isn’t an option at the moment because I struggle to get myself out alone.

I just wanted to see if anyone had any experience and could tell me roughly how much they got a month, as financially I just want to see what I’m going to be paid.

At the moment you will get basic pay and an average of enhancements.

So if you're off sick due to pregnancy related sickness in the last 11 weeks of your pregnancy it will kick start your mat leave.

It's actually 8 weeks full pay (2 months), 18 weeks half pay (4 and a half months) plus you can get stat mat pay on top of the half pay (about 600 a month). Then 18 weeks just stat mat (4 and a half months of 600) then nothing for the remaining time up to 52 weeks if that's how long you choose to be off for. But you accrue your annual leave so over 1 year you'd accrue 5 weeks, so you could start annual leave and get paid full wage again before going back.

Bit worrying that you're 28 weeks and haven't read the policy? Have you applied for mat leave? You have to have done so by 25 weeks or else you don't get occupational pay, just stat mat/mat allowance (whichever you qualify for).

Average wage is just your wage from between 11 weeks and 26 weeks. In case you had a pay raise or changed jobs in the middle of this time period.

Ah just read that it's sick pay! My apologies!!!
That varies trust to trust but it's usually 6m full pay. But like I said, if you're off with pregnancy related symptoms in the last 11 weeks of your pregnancy you automatically start may leave. So you'll get 1 week sick pay for next week, then your mat leave will kick in as per my info above

@Ginfilledcats you only automatically start maternity leave if you are off after 36 weeks i.e. in the last four weeks of pregnancy.

OP, you should get full sick pay up until the date you have arranged to start maternity leave or 36 weeks pregnant, whichever is sooner. After that you will go onto maternity pay and the amount you get will depend on your salary during the qualifying weeks and whether you have chosen to spread your pay evenly through your mat leave.

I have handed in my MATB1 a couple of weeks ago and my work have been aware of my pregnancy since I was about 5/6 weeks. The mat pay I'm all okay with I know what I'm entitled too as had previous baby, was just interested about sick pay :) thank you though!! Just feel like an old lady with everything going on, and the last thing I wanted to do was stress about money as well as having a toddler and a husband to contend with lol! The joys of pregnancy and motherhood 🙌🏻
