too much iron in pregnancy?

My iron was a little low when I got pregnant, and although I had been taking a prenatal it didn't have iron in it. My diet is very healthy and I was surprised to hear my iron levels were a little low. I switched to pregnacare which provides 121percent of the RDA, but my stomach is so bunged up! I just wonder if that much iron is ok...I assume it is safe in pregnancy. I'm not a meat eater so I assume people who get loads of iron in their diet also take pregnacare and it doesn't cause problems? Would appreciate any advice, as I'd love to stop pregnacare. Many thanks Mx

I couldn't take it as u said made me even more bunged up there's one I take called feroglobin not as much iron as pregnacare but I thought with that and green veg it will be ok. It's a soft iron tablet so doesn't make u constipated

I was prescribed iron tablets with ridiculously high levels of iron and that's perfectly fine.

Why do you want to stop Pregnacare? They're recommended for all the vitamins, not just iron. I took Seven Seas rather than Pregnacare though because they're a third of the price and taste much better.

@GiveHerHellFromUs I just feel a bit sick after taking them and I have a feeling the iron is the reason my stomach is also a bit bunged up, sorryt= tmi!

@nicciw87 thank you I'll look into it!

Iron can give you a bad stomach, ferrous sulphate is a bit kinder.

Try the liquid iron

It's not TMI - we've all been there, don't worry!
Honestly try Seven Seas instead. I got on with them sooo much better. I felt sick with Pregnacare too.
If you're worried about iron levels make sure you're eating plenty of dark green veg.

Thanks so much for the replies! Just ordered seven seas on amazon x

Actually, since we have all been there, is there anything that's safe to take in pregnancy for a bunged up tummy? I exercise - yoga and walking - and I eat loads of fruit and veg and drink tons of water. I'm so uncomfortable. I would love to feel as though I have a bit more space in my body but I feel so gross : (
