Hello!

Looking for some advice regarding Seedlip.

We went to our best friends last night, whom we haven't see in ages and shared the news that I am 7 weeks pregnant (they would have guessed as I wasn't drinking, they're too wise!) So I took a bottle of Seedlip and throughout the evening from 4pm - 12am we were playing games, chatting etc. and I had 4 of these drinks with lots of tonic and ice. The packaging does not reference any traces of alcohol , however out of curiosity I looked on there website and it says 0.5% and once diluted is the same as orange juice etc. however other websites say stay away and I had 4 glasses over 8 hours and now I am feeling like a complete failure and awful!! I am now carrying around this guilt like I was necking vodka shots or something, when that was definitely not the case but still feel so guilty... should I speak to the midwife to check that theres no damage? I am so scared :( I feel like I want to write to seedlip to say they should mention it on their packaging, alot of other non alcoholic drinks have a disclaimer that says may contain traces of alcohol of 0.5%... any advice!

I accidentally drank a few 0.5% beers early pregnancy thinking they were non alcoholic and now I'm 30 weeks with a healthy lively baby squashing my bladder.

It will most likely be absolutely fine. Many people drink past 7 weeks because they dont realise their pregnant.

Mention it to your midwife if its worrying you. I know many women who have drank a glass of wine here and there into their second and third trimester (for the iron apparently Hmm) and their child has been fine. I personally dont believe in drinking alcohol at all though!

So, my DH is strictly no alcohol & has been for a few years, so we've tried quite a variety of 0% alcohol. Depending on the process used to make the 'non-alcoholic' drink, for some of them they can't 100% guarantee that there is no trace of alcohol, so they have to say 'less than 0.5%".

Oh gosh please dint worry about this, I think orange juice has a higher natural alcohol content than these drinks

Emily Oster has concluded that a unit of alcohol per week is safe for the first trimester so you’ll be absolutely fine

(Do prepare yourself for some scaremonger to come on and tell you that a drop of alcohol is more dangerous than heroin though.... and then please ignore this)

According to the website, undiluted Seedlip has less than 0.5%, not equal to 0.5%. There is no way of labelling trace amounts of alcohol content between 0% and 0.5% other than as
