Hi all,

I'm currently 12+4 and have my scan tomorrow. I've had an awful first trimester with horrendous sickness since 6 weeks, was given anti sickness 3 weeks ago as couldn't even keep water down, then last week I developed painful UTI so was given antibiotics. These didn't agree with me and made me sick again so they put me on some diff ones. I've also had horrific headaches from about 6 weeks. Anyway, I'm really worried I could have damaged baby taking all this medication. I know doctors know what they are doing but still worried for my scan tomorrow. I know that not taking the antibiotics can have a worse impact than leaving the infection. Has anybody else been in the same position and had healthy babies? Thank you!

I have been on all sorts of medications since week 5 due to severe hyperemesis. From cyclizine ondansatron metoclopromide steroids antibiotics fluids everything and so far baby is doing really well apart from being slightly small. I'm 37+4 and haven't been told anything is wrong with baby. I know of other women who have had healthy babies after being on a lot of medication. Try your best not to worry. Easier said than done I know but doctors know best. I wish you all the best for your scan. I remember I was so scared but when I saw my baby on the scan I felt so much better.

@abbs1 aww thank you, that makes me feel better! So glad to hear everything is looking healthy with your baby, not long to go now! Hope you are feeling better yourself aswell, it's harder than people realise.

Hey just a little reassurance also... I had to stay in hospital for a bit as I had pleurisy and they were giving me IV morphine amongst other things and He is absolutely fine don't stress it!! P.s- I'm also a nurse and would never have risked all these medications if I thought it would be harmful to the baby! Take care xx

You’ll be fine @Leadust92
I was taking lots of medications for sickness and was so so worried about the effect on the baby. The doctors wouldn’t give them to you if it wasn’t safe. Trust your body knows what to do and all will be fine x
