I had my 12 week scan Wednesday and they seemed happy and gave me some free pictures to take home, had my blood test etc. Then I received 3 letters last night with 3 different scan dates on? I was given my 20
Week scan date at the scan so why have I been sent 3 more dates over the course of the year? It’s really worried me but they all sound like routine scans so I’m confused?! Doesn’t mention anything about a problem? It’s the weekend so I can’t even call and talk to anyone?! I’m just making myself anxious :(

I was a little further ahead at 12 week scan as I’m currently 13+5 now x

What weeks are the scans for OP? I’m high risk (due to an existing condition and BMI) and so have the normal 12 and 20 weeks scans but also have 28, 34, 38 and 40.

I know some areas are going a standard ‘extra’ scan on top of the 12 and 20 so it could be that?

I wouldn’t worry about it, if there were any concerns at all they would absolutely have told you then and there. Could you text your community midwife for support? Mine usually gets back to me even at weekends xx

BadCatDirtyCat · 15/03/2020 06:52

You get another scan (the anommoly scan) at 20 weeks, and (at some hospitals at least) another scan at 36 weeks. When you work out the dates of the scans you've been sent what weeks are they at?

Sunflower2019 · 15/03/2020 06:53

I don’t have her number for that? Just community one which is Monday to Friday 🤦🏽‍♀️
I don’t have them to hand but one in June one for beginning sept and one in August but I have my 20 week one end of April so I’m confused? I’m not high risk or told I am? Thanks for getting back to me :)

@BadCatDirtyCat they gave me the 20 scan date but these are all arranged for after? 3 extra ones up until the beginning of sept? I can only think it’s an error but it’s worried me! Xx

Is it possible baby measuring big ? If your dates are 12 weeks and baby measuring at 13 + 5 maybe they are further growth scans ? Which by the way is nothing to worry about. Babies often have growth spurts .

Sunflower2019 · 15/03/2020 06:58

@Elliesmommy possibly yes, but they didn’t mention anything at the scan. Very strange xx

I had further growth scans with all 3. My boy measured big all the way along. My girl measured small all the way through and was born at 9'3 so they do get it wrong. Rest your mind. Just think of it as seeing your baby dancing around a few extra times. X

It's probably a mistake. I had extra scans but they weren't arranged until later in my pregnancy when complications became apparent. My scan dates were always given to me at the hospital rather than posted out.

Gigitree · 15/03/2020 07:05

It’s odd that they’ve arranged extra scans without explaining to you why. But I wouldn’t worry I’m sure it’s just so they can keep an eye on baby’s growth. I would just call the community midwife number on Monday. Did the letters with the new appointments have a number you could call? You could always try that too for clarity.
I’m having extra scans towards the end due to my high BMI, but I went to see a consultant first and then the scans were arranged so they weren’t a surprise.

Sunflower2019 · 15/03/2020 07:44

I’ve looked back at my results and it all says normal , NT was 2.2 so within range. I think it may be an error? I’ll call them Monday and try remain positive xx

Hey everyone, they’ve said growth scans? But said they’ll have to read my notes and get back to me. I’m so confused as wasn’t told anything at appointment and was told all was okay. Xx

There can be many reasons for growth scans. Sorry to be blunt but do you have a high bmi? That is the reason I am having them, over a certain bmi it is automatic

Sussexmidwife · 16/03/2020 12:15

In many areas extra scans are offered later in pregnancy if you have a low-ish level of PAPP-A. That is a hormone released by the placenta & is measured if you have the combined test at the 12 week scan. There is some (not good) evidence that a low PAPP-A level can be linked to baby’s growth slowing in late pregnancy.

Sunflower2019 · 16/03/2020 13:57

@Daisypod no I’m only 5ft 1 and a size 6/8 😂 obviously I’m a little larger now with the growing bump!

Thanks @Sussexmidwife :)

They’ve said it’s because I’m daughter 12 years ago was small? I’m only tiny but was never told she was too small. She was 6lb 8oz. Anyway at least it’s not anything serious 🤞
