Bicornuate Uterus and Bleeding in Early Pregnancy

Hi All,

Looking for some help and shared experience from someone on here...

Almost two weeks ago I had a positive pregnancy test. I couldn’t believe it at first, so I did a couple of other tests to confirm and with each test the positive sign came up quicker each time.

Last week I went for my first doctors appointment, and she said that she still couldn’t see the gestational sac as having been developed yet, but that this could be due to the fact that I typically have a longer cycle (35 days). We made an arrangement to return at the end of next week for another check.

This evening when going to the bathroom, I saw a spot of red blood in my pants. When I went to wipe a gush of blood was visible, again red. The amount in my opinion was no more than a teaspoon, likely much less, but still felt as a large quantity at once.

After this, I am currently continuing to have pink/brown spotting, with no pain or other symptoms.

I have a bicornuate uterus (heart shaped) and have been told before getting pregnant by my gyno, that I could continue to experience bleeding during pregnancy, and this has led me to wonder whether in my situation this is something that could be down to my uterine abnormality, or a possible early miscarriage.

I should currently be around 6 weeks. I’ve had only some slight aches in my stomach over the past couple of weeks, but no serious pain.

Thanks in advance to anyone that could offer some help.

Praying with all my heart that it isn’t a miscarriage!
