How many here have experienced implantation bleeding?

I'm a few weeks pregnant (V early) and I'm experiencing spotting.
Nothing hectic. A pretty light spotting. Very dark in colour and I did get abdominal cramps on day 1 of spotting (currently on day 3 and it appears to be easing off).

I'm not particularly worried about it given the colour. I'm just wondering if other experienced this too?
Is it worth mentioning to DH even though I'm 95% sure all is okay?
I have an appointment Monday with my doc, 'out of hours' docs won't see me because it's not an emergency and Covid-19 is in my local hospital so I'm not going to A&E.

Hi there... I did (though I didn't realise that's what it was at the time!). I'd been keeping track of my cycles for a few months, and actually recording it as a period; much as you describe, it was about 3 days or so, some darkish spotting.

Anyway, fast forward to the dating scan - I'm adamant I'm 12 weeks, but the sonographer says nope, you're definitely 16. So it turns out that the 'period' must have been implantation bleeding.

Best of luck with yours - fingers crossed everything works out when you see your doctor on Monday.

@pseudanonymous so your spotting was about 4 weeks? I'm 5 weeks now since my last period and I'm just a small bit apprehensive that it may be too late for implantation bleeding.

@Idontknowmyownname it was about 4 weeks; my cycles can run a little long. You know what's normal for you, though. From what you've said, I wouldn't think there was immediate worry, but I'm not an expert!

morriseysquif · 13/03/2020 00:59

I did, brown not red, thought I was miscarrying [again] happily not!

MySonIsAlsoNamedBort · 13/03/2020 01:02

I did. I had it at 4w5d. I know because I overreacted and went to the hospital and they did a scan etc.

Idontknowmyownname · 13/03/2020 01:56

I would have been 5w2d when it started.
Mine is also brown, a dark brown.
I guess I'm just nervous because this is my first ever pregnancy (aged 32) and I've seen the things my friends have gone through.

Monday can't come soon enough!

I also understand if something has gone wrong it has already happened.
I just want to know this is viable! Confused

I did with my first, a bit later though just after 6 weeks which lasted a few days. Yours sounds similar to what I had and wasn't anything to worry about but it's always good to check if something's worrying you. Congratulations on your pregnancy!

Idontknowmyownname · 13/03/2020 13:50

@Oonchook oh thank you so much!! I thought mine was too late. That is after setting my mind at ease xx

@Idontknowmyownname Glad I could help! At the time, the midwife I spoke to said that it's common to have a bleed around this time. I also had an early scan yesterday (I'm 8+2 with my second) and the lady said there's always a bleed at implantation but sometimes the body absorbs it. She showed me where the blood was but I haven't had any spotting or anything (yet) this time x

ELW85 · 13/03/2020 17:42

@Idontknowmyownname - I did at roughly 5 weeks; dark brown and went light pink at one point.
Fingers crossed all is well and 39 weeks tomorrow.

Idontknowmyownname · 14/03/2020 18:07

@ELW85 congratulations and best of luck in the coming weeks!

I did with both DSs. DS1 I therefore was 8 weeks out on my due date assumption! DS2 I knew what to expect...

@Oonchook I'm living through your words rn girl! You are saying all the right things to me

I had spotting if brown blood with cramping at 5 weeks when I was pregnant with my son. It was nothing! I had an early scan at 5+6 and they couldn’t see the cause of the bleed but I did see his tiny little heartbeat 💗

HulaHoop2 · 14/03/2020 18:24

I don’t know if it was implantation bleeding but I had quite a bit of spotting in the early weeks. Nurse said it was probably just irritation of the cervix. Baby is 2 next month so it all worked out! Best of luck to you 🙂

Bezalelle · 14/03/2020 19:32

But surely implantation bleeding happens about 7 days after ovulation, not when you're 5 or 6 weeks pregnant?

ELW85 · 14/03/2020 19:41

@Bezalelle - the jury is out. They call it that as it can be your uterus having a clear out to give the embryo the best environment.
There’s also hormonal bleeding which happens when your period would have been due and then again at 8 weeks.

HarrietM87 · 14/03/2020 19:50

@Bezalelle if it’s brown blood that comes out at 5/6 weeks it can be the old blood from implantation. I agree though that typically people implantation bleeding is pink spotting at around 4 weeks pregnant.

HarrietM87 · 14/03/2020 19:50

Not sure why there’s a random people in there!

Pentium85 · 14/03/2020 19:51

Yes. Around 5-6 weeks.
Period like, I sobbed for days thinking I had miscarried
