Coccyx pain 😫!

Is anyone else suffering from really bad coccyx pain? Had it for nearly 2 weeks now and am I’m so much pain. My day job involves me sitting at a computer for 7.5 hours a day, 5 days a week. Any advice on how to ease it? I’ve got a orthopaedic chair cushion but it does nothing to help. I’m only 17 weeks and can’t deal with this for another 23 😫

I had this when I was pregnant with my daughter, it gradually got so bad I couldn’t even drive.

I ended up going to my gp who said it’s really common when pregnant and I had to go to the hospital to have it put back into place. (Moved slightly due to looser ligaments or something) I had it done, literally no more pain and didn’t have an issue with it again

I really suffered from this from about 27 weeks. I’m now 39 weeks and the last couple of weeks it’s faded away. I found sitting at my office chair impossible for more then about 20 mins at a time. Same for any kind of hard chair like dining chairs. I bought a doughnut cushion but it didn’t really help much. I ended up working from home quite a bit so I could sit on the sofa with the doughnut cushion which was much better. I also spent time standing up & working on my laptop, although that got harder the bigger I got.

I’m not sure exactly what has made the pain disappear. I saw an Osteopath three times around week 33 onwards. My baby is breech and went into that position around the same time the pain started. Midwife wondered if she was sitting on something which was then causing the pain. Maybe as she’s begun to engage, albeit her bottom not her head, the pressure has eased?

Anyway I would definitely suggest trying to see if you can find a way to ease the pain ASAP. Especially as you’re only 17 weeks! I know you can be referred to physio via your GP or midwife for PGP, which I would think this is a form of. For me I thought that would take too long so took the hit and went for the Osteopath route.

Hope you get it sorted, I know what agony it can be. Especially when all you want to do when pregnant is sit down!!

Hi! I've got this! I'm in exactly the same position as you, office jobs so I'm sat most of the day! I've brought in cushions to sit on to ease it and I try and go for walks regularly! I'm still trying to find other remedies too! Grin

I found sitting on an exercise ball when at home instead of the sofa helped ease the pain. Also try to take regular breaks and walks away from your desk when at work so you. Hope it gets better for you x

I was quite sore with this a few week back and bought one of those knee pillows to put between your legs and the pain basically disappeared within a day or two.

I'd suggest getting a proper one rather than just using a normal pillow as I found that the normal pillow moved around too easily. Mine was £10, amazon prime.

I also second getting up from your desk a lot! I still find that it's a little sore the few seconds I stand up but after that it's fine

I have a coccyx cushion, one on the types which are rectangleish with a u shaped section cut out at the back of it, they have them on ebay and amazon, it really helps:)
