Sweep at 39 weeks

Hi everyone

So ive just had a stretch and sweep. The midwife says external Os is open, but internal Os is closed (she was able to get her finger in and feel the closed internal Os), and cervix is 2cm long and has started to move around to the front.

Ive never had a baby before so I dont really know where this puts me. Is this the very beginning (pre-labour), or is this pretty standard at this stage?

Ideally what I want is for people to say "yes thats amazing you're going to go into labour very soon", but I know thats not going to happen!

Does anyone have experience or words of wisdom?

Any progress? Got mine in the morning.

It doesnt really tell you anything, unfortunately. One of the sayings is "the cervix is not a crystal ball".

No progress! Just a bit of bloody discharge and some tiny pains, all of which are to be expected.

If anything im hopeful it will have progressed things a little further, if not to labour stage.

Had a sweep a week ago but she could not perform the whole process as cervix was too far back. Went back yesterday and she was able to do a full sweep, I am 2cm dilated. Had some cramps afterwards but no blood and pains went away during the night. Nothing today either =( Sweeps are not guaranteed to send you into labour at all tbh, it can help move the process along but, its still just a waiting game =(
I am 40+10 and hoping I go into labour before I have to be induced this weekend >

Even if it just nudges the process on a little bit its worth it imo

I had one at 37+4 and I was 2cm dilated, central and soft. Mucus plug came away for few days and then last night at 38 weeks I had my bloody show. I've been having period pains and back ache for over a week now. I have my second sweep today so hoping that will nudge baby along x
