Maternity Leave Advice

Hi. Just looking for a little advice as this all confuses me....

Baby is due 10th of July, I'm eligible for
18 Weeks Company MAT Pay
21 Weeks Statutory MAT Pay
10 KIT Days & I also get my average last 12 month Commission paid monthly whilst on MAT Leave also.

I will have my years worth of annual leave to use also which is a bit of a pain as it's worked out in hours so I get 264 hours. Work mostly 11 Hour 15 Minute shifts

Does anyone have any advice how to work it? Annual Leave before/after? I don't want to take anymore than than when the Statutory MAT Pay ends as it would go down to £0 and I couldn't afford it

Sorry - heads a mess! Confused

Thanks in advance Smile

how much % of normal salary is the company MAT pay?

with my employers, I didn't get paid any extras for the KIT days I took during their 'enhanced pay' initial 12 weeks at 100%, but for the KIT days I took during SMP weeks I got my pay upgraded to normal salary for those days.

I used my carried over Annual Leave to have every Wednesday off for my first 6 months back which was brilliant. some companies may allow or even require you to take it as a block bit normally this must be at the end of the maternity period - can't usually be at the start because you haven't accrued the leave yet.

@VadenuRewetje my Mat Policy states the following for CMP

"Company Maternity Pay (CMP)
We pay Company Maternity Pay by topping up Statutory Maternity Pay (SMP), SMP is the amount of money the government say we need to pay you whilst you’re on maternity leave.
CMP is calculated according to your normal monthly earnings which includes any basic or recurring payments you receive such as shift or call out allowance."

For KIT Days....

"All KIT days are paid at your normal rate and this will include any maternity pay you would normally receive."

In regards to Annual Leave I can take beginning or end it states

Can you afford the time you are on stat mat?have you been saving etc?
I’ve took AL the first at the end of my maternity leave (Stat mat) when my pay went down to zero and I was on unpaid mat leave.

My job offset annual leave against stat mat, so say you took 40hours or leave (a whole week in my job) during stat mat pay you’d get the pay minus the stat mat so you are worse off.

Extra time with your baby at the end is better than finishing work early in my book!
