Pain in left side of stomach - 21 weeks pregnant

I have this really horrible sharp pain in the left side of my stomach. It hurts when I press on my left side (starting from my belly button) or when I move. I'm not sure if it's to do with being pregnant or not? I have been really constipated through my pregnancy so far so not sure if it's that?

Probably worth having a chat with your midwife just to be sure but it does sound like constipation. I have exactly the same quite often.
Are you taking anything for it? I’ve been taking lactulose daily, eating bran flakes, and just been advised to start using suppositories. When I can “go”, the pain does subside for a while. Is yours the same?

Yes mine is the same. Haven't taken anything for it as I'm not sure what I'm allowed to take.

Lactulose is definitely safe, and it’s better than fibrogel (sp?). Avoid things like senna or dulcolax as they can stimulate your intestines which could potentially trigger early labour but lactulose and suppositories are perfectly safe.
Drink lots and lots of water, and increase your fibre intake as well, that will help.
Raspberry and banana smoothies are a great tasty way of increasing the fibre, baked beans on jacket pots or granary toast are another good one, and anything whole grain really; bread, rice, pasta, all really helpful.
