Brown qvar inhaler

Hey I've had this cough for 25 weeks from the start of pregnancy they gave me blue inhaler worked well but if I don't take it all tge time I get the cough back so they hsve prescribed me a brown one qvar I keep finding mixed things online about it does anyone take this everyday please

I have a brown inhaler, not same brand but does the same thing. I've never googled using it in pregnancy just always assumed it was safe because no health professionals have been concerned.

What brown one do you have? I did ask the consultant and she just went fine I just worried about the brand that was all

I read that one is OK online 🤔 I may phone up doc tomorrow to just ask I just hate taking stuff I don't wheeze it's just a cough that I hate now lol there just isn't very much on the qvar

I've been on the brown qvar inhaler for 10 years and 3 pregnancies with no issues or concerns raised by GP's, or obstetric consultants.

I used Qvar for years, and got on really well with it. I've been changed to Fostair now (because I was the only patient in the whole area on Qvar!).

As I'm new to the inhalers can I use the blue one aswell as the brown one when pregnant they never told me this I know you can if your not pregnant I just want to know if you can when you are

The blue one is a quick fix when you need to open your air ways and the brown one is a long term preventer. You can use both.

I've had Qvar for years, through two pregnancies & never had any problems or concerns. I don't use it much - only if I get ill.
They wouldn't have prescribed it if you weren't meant to take it. What are your concerns?

Thanks hun, I've had the blue one for So long I just used that if I needed to whenever I felt I needed it but as they put me on the brown one a week ago I wasn't sure if I can use both especially as the symptoms haven't changed yet as I'm only on day 5 so wanted to get a bit of relief no point in me phoning docs I won't get through etc so if thought I'd ask here x I think they said it can take up 2 wrrks for symptoms to start relieving on brown inhaler

You should have been given instructions on when to take the Qvar - mine is 1-2 puffs twice a day. I'm using it now as a preventative measure. So you use the Qvar as instructed & then if you feel wheezy you use the blue inhaler to relieve the wheeze. If you're using the blue inhaler a lot or it's not relieving you, you need to seek medical advice.

It can take a few weeks to start working so keep taking it regularly. The point of the brown one is to hopefully need the blue one less. I used both through pregnancies.

My Dr's analogy was that the blue one was like pushing a door open, instantly letting air in, but the door slowly closes again.
Brown one is like pushing the door open and sticking a wedge under to keep it open.

Yes they have the brown one I have one puff twice a day but they didn't just tell me about the blue one and if i could carry on using it, they gave me the brown one in the end because I was using the blue one alot more than I needed but like I said it may take a while for the symptoms to lessen thanks whatsnewpussyhat great help x

I was told the brown one was like 'painting' your windpipe/lungs so allergens couldn't get to it and make you wheeze, that's why it takes a while to start working and you need to take it regularly, to build up that coat of protective 'paint'.
