Is this pain normal?

I'm 18+5. I had pains in my lower abdomen last night, like a dull ache and I kept waking up in the night with the pain. This morning I had the same, plus a stitch like pain higher up on my bump. I phoned MAU and they said to go in to get checked, which I did. My urine dip showed high protein and leukocytes. They're sending the sample off and also took a vaginal swab which is being sent off. As I had two premature births, which they think may have been due to infection, they have started me on antibiotics straight away. Since I came home, the pain has got worse and I've got an intense pressure in my pelvis. I've also got shooting pains down my right thigh. What worries me is that this is the same pain I had right before I went in to labour with both DCs. Is this just normal pain for a UTI in pregnancy? And am I just associating it with labour because that's likely what happened before?

Obviously I've been checked over today and the cervix is closed. I've got my next cervical length scan tomorrow so that will tell me if the cervix has shortened at all. I don't know what normal feels like in pregnancy. I didn't react quick enough when I was in labour with DD1, because I convinced myself I couldn't be having real contractions at 28 weeks. With DD2, I was seen at MAU quite a few times as I was having contractions and they said I have an irritable uterus, but each time it was fine until I went in to labour at 33 weeks.

I obviously am reassured by being seen at MAU today, but I'm also worried. It doesn't seem as though a full term pregnancy is a realistic possibility for me, but if it were to happen this early then it would be a miscarriage, not a premature birth.

I think if the pain is worse you should ring MAU again x
