I have just had a growth scan and babies tummy is measuring in the 97th line, all other measurements are on the 90th other than the tummy sm currently 34weeks I have to go back in 3 weeks when am 37 weeks to see if its stayed same or has grown bigger has anyone had same or similar? What will they do if it has gone bigger or if it stays on the 97th ?? Can it mean something is up with baby? I forgot to ask all the vital questions

Last pregnancy, a growth scan showed all measurements for my daughter were on the 50th centile bar her stomach on the 90th! They weren’t concerned anything was wrong, just predicted that baby was going to be huge Hmm She came out a week late at 8lbs.. so I don’t much trust these growth scans!

I had this and the baby was normal sized (8lbish) with no problems. It was scary at the time, but the measurements are very unreliable.
They are not that worried about your baby if they are happy to leave it 3 weeks.

If tummy is on 97 and other measurements are on 90 I think your baby is just big. They would look more in detail if only tummy is big and other measure are much smaller, which might be a sign of Gestational diabetes.

So, in your case I wouldn't worry.

They are more concerned about a small tummy incase the baby isn't getting the full supply needed to grow from the placenta.

Yes I did know that he was going to be big as they said that really early on it's just cause thyr have told me if the tummy grows then I will have to see consultant a d see what they want to do I never had any of this with my first who they also said was going to be big he was 8lb 4oz so not as big as they thought but still pretty big

I have the opposite in that babies tummy is slowing in growth compared to the rest. I'm 37 weeks tomorrow and going for a scan and seeing the consultant to decide if they induce, c section or leave me to go into labour naturally depending on the scan results.

Success1986 · 10/03/2020 15:39

I was 90th centile and they predicted my son would be 8lbs 11oz he was 10lb 3oz when born they induced me and he was born day before due date as they thought he would be too big for me im size 10 normally so was a shock to have such a big baby. Anyways hes continuted to grow on the 90th centile is is now 2 but looks older only for his whispy baby hair 😍

@Success1986 did you have csection or natural birth ? Am really wanting a vaginal birth and not to be induced but I guess in 3 weeks time I will know more just feel so in limbo xx

Yes the induction failed so i had a section was all for the best because surgeon said baby would not have fitted through my pelvis. Try not to worry the best way to deliever baby is the safest for you both, if thats through the sun roof or down below. Also they measured my baby pounds out so yours could be smaller and also plenty of women safely deliver larger babies vaginally as well. No health complications with my baby what so ever, happy contented chubby baby and he fed and slept well x

Ds's tummy was enormous on scan at 36 weeks. Midwife said tummies are squishy so not an issue for actual birth. He was born at 36+6 and weighed in at 8'10", so very glad he came a bit early. No issues at all and he's now an averagely sized 13yo.
