Bleeding - I am 6 weeks pregnant

Hi, This is my 3rd pregnancy via IVF privately as I am 46, previous two I miscarried shortly after falling pregnant.
I am about 6 weeks pregnant this time. I had bleeding like having periods on 4th Mar pm with 2 small clots and it stopped later in the afternoon. Started again 5th Mar am- went to EPU, had a scan but baby was intact, was overjoyed; they said it was Haemotoma and the HCG level was very good. Then since 7th Mar night, i have been having light pinkish to dark brown stain or spots during day mainly only when wiping and nothing during night. I have been nauseas though and hungry too. No clots or heavy bleeding. The nurse in the hospital who did the scan has been in touch and has asked me to keep an eye.
Has anyone had this ongoing bleeding episodes like mine, how long for or why please and any advice will be much appreciated. As you can imagine Im very anxious. If this continues for another day I will be popping over to EPU again. Thank you.

I would want to get checked out again TBH.

I will monitor it for today and pop over to EPU tomorrow. When I called EPU nurse she asked me to monitor but only come in if it is heavy bleeding or clots !! I thought given the situ they would want to monitor me ....... ? Thanks for the suggestion, I will visit them tomorrow.

I have my 12 week scan tomorrow and I've been bleeding for 3 weeks straight! I've had 3 scans, one when it started and 2 more when I experienced very heavy bleeds. Each time baby has been perfectly fine, even waving at me through the screen! They also checked my cervix and confirmed each time that it was closed. They've put mine down to a haematoma and we're just taking every day as it comes.

How heavily are you bleeding? Mine has varied over the weeks with the heaviest bleed being Thursday just past. I filled a pad in seconds, and then another 2 pads during our 30 minute drive to the hospital. Even passed a blood clot the size of my palm (TMI sorry!) totally expecting baby to pass but he was holding on in there, waving and wriggling away. I know how scary it is, and I really hope it works out for you. I've heard so many people on here share their positive stories. It's so much easier said than done, but try not to focus too much on it. Take the time to rest up if you feel you need to (I didn't for the first two weeks, and it's only the past week that I've taken to bed rest and minimal movement, let alone exercise!) take care Flowers

Also, EPU told me the same, just to monitor and come in if heavy which is why we had a private scan the first time around. It was a week later that I had my first heavy bleed and I rushed in to the hospital, again to be told all was okay

My 1st pregnancy was Ivf and I bled on and off from 4 to 8-9 weeks. I had a very heavy bleed at 6 weeks which I was told was caused by a heamatoma. I was signed off work for two weeks and had to lay with my legs raised and wait for my body to absorb the rest of the heamatoma as it was right next to the baby and there was a risk of it dragging the baby out with it.
I was also told that you are more likely to bleed during an Ivf pregnancy due to all the meds.

That baby is now 15 months old and currently pulling my hair. I remember how scared and stressed I was at the time but I went on to have a very normal and healthy pregnancy. Good luck.

Hi ya,
thank you so much for taking the time to write. We are all different I know but this is positive in terms of baby is fine & that's the best part (bless ) but of course the bleeding that too for 3 weeks must have been unnerving and frustrating.
I had a scan on 5th Mar after I had a bit of heavy bleeding on 4th afternoon when I thought I was having a mishap as I had seen a couple of clots too but after the scan they said its haemotoma too and the baby was fine. I will pop over to EPU tomorrow for another scan to see what is happening. My bleeding is when Im wiping myself mainly, sometimes pink blob or very dark red stain and it only comes on in the mornings, I don't bleed throughout the night at all. I am very nauseas and am having a hunger pang as well. My first months scan is next Tues and dying to see the heart beat.
You are right - I won't focus on this and keep positive.
I hope this bleeding stops for you and feel much better - bless the baby and best best wishes. Keep in touch xx

How lovely - bless your baby. Thank you for your time and sharing your experience. My IVF clinic is simply useless really - no advice as such, they are just recording everything I am saying and thanks to NHS that I have some knowledge of what is going on ! It is good to know that IVF ones can bleed more ..... in terms of perspective I mean. I will pop into EPU tomorrow tog et a scan done and see what is going on ..... Take care x

How did you get on at the scan OP?

lovelondon8 · 12/03/2020 19:25

I went in today as I have been bleeding on and off since I have had the scan last thurs when they said all was well ie i saw the sac, yolk and the embryo. However the monographer said she could see the sac but nit the embryo .... !!! the sac has grown. When I asked she couldn't exactly tell me for what reason she couldn't see the embryo- bizarre. she said the bleeding is due to fibroids which are not on the way of the pregnancy which is good news. Then when i saw the APN she said all is good . I will be back next week at my Ivf clinic to have the scan done to see the heart beat but I have come back very worried - thinking if they can't see the embryo where has it gone? Make sense? It seems that patients have to be doctor and ask for each and every thing here or else you won't have the answers ......
