I'm keen to see answers to this one too. Currently 39+4 and booked in for a sweep on Friday which is my due date

SquigglyOne · 10/03/2020 11:34

I had 3 sweeps - none of them worked 😩

nicannie · 10/03/2020 12:01

@SquigglyOne did you end up being induced?? Did you have any early labour symptoms at all before your sweeps?

Every night the past 5 nights at about the same times I have tightenings and bad cramping for 2-4 hours, along with back ache and a feeling of needing to go to the toilet. I've stopped getting my hopes up that babies coming now 😂

SquigglyOne · 10/03/2020 12:12

@nicannie ended up being induced at 41+5
Didn’t really have symptoms before the sweeps - little bit of cramping after each one

nicannie · 10/03/2020 12:19

@SquigglyOne I think I'll end up being induced as well if I'm honest. I'm trying not to hold out hope to go naturally now!

DC1 didn't work

DC2 did work! Went in to labour a few hours after sweep.

LaurenSarah22 · 10/03/2020 12:28

I had 3 sweeps. None of them worked

fool11 · 10/03/2020 12:28

worked for me.. had my at 39w and my dd was born next morning, good luck.

SparkleUK · 10/03/2020 12:38

Two sweeps attempted, one at 39 and one at 40. Both times they couldn't be done as cervix was closed and thick.
Booked for induction at 41+1 which terrified me but little man set himself off at 05.15ish on the induction day and arrived without intervention 😊

namesneeded · 10/03/2020 12:42

Me too! Sweep hasn't worked, so I've had pessary and long 24 hour wait now in the maternity unit. Good luck!

nicannie · 10/03/2020 13:06

Good luck @namesneeded how exciting !!

SquigglyOne · 11/03/2020 04:02

@nicannie I was lucky that when I went in for my induction I was already 3cm dilated so all they had to do to induce was break my waters. I also had a very quick labour of just over 5 hours!

Maybe the sweeps did help to get me dilated or maybe coincidence 🤷‍♀️
