Sleeping on left side

When should you start sleeping on left side? From the early weeks or can it wat until further along? Thing is I find sleeping on my side so uncomfortable, love sleeping on my front, obviously as I get bigger this won’t be possible, just wondering how soon it becomes beneficial for baby for left side sleeping. So basically should I be doing it now, I’m 7wks or can I get away with front sleeping for a bit longer?

I front slept for AGES, I think, although could be wrong, it’s the back sleeping that is the worst.
I remember being in labour and the midwife telling me I needed to change positions because of babies heart rate.

Oh I dont think it makes any difference at 7 weeks. Its something to do with blood flow to the placenta but the placenta doesnt even develop until 12 weeks or so, so you're fine for now!

I carried on sleeping on my stomach until about 16 weeks when I started to feel uncomfortable/paranoid I was squashing baby, which is irrational! As long as you're comfortable there's no harm in it.

Side sleeping is for later on, I guess 28 weeks onwards, as back sleeping can restrict blood flow to the placenta.

It's good idea to start getting use to it earlier though, I started sleeping on my side at 16 weeks ish and only now is side sleeping natural for me and I'm 29 weeks! I'll be back to stomach sleeping as soon as I've given birth!

You don’t need to worry about side sleeping until 3rd trimester. Please read this from Tommy’s:

www.tommys.org/pregnancy-information/im-pregnant/sleep-position-pregnancy-qa

Back sleeping is to do with the weight of baby on a main artery & your organs, which isn’t a concern until the 3rd trimester. Sleeping on the left or right is more sketchy, a tiny study showed increased risk of still birth but no other study has proved similar. You certainly don’t need to worry yet, sleep however you like!
